Last Week's Manga Chapter Surprise: My Chapter is More Angsty than Yours

I am not sure if the Mangakas had a meeting about having all of them release a plot twisting, over the top, no-one-saw-that-coming chapter. All in the same week! I mean, at this meeting the kings of plot twists and plot holes, Kishimoto (Naruto) and Kubo (Bleach). Then we have the Queen of Alchemy and Awesomeness, Arakawa (Full Metal Alchemist). The legend of the unique pirate of the seas art style of Oda (One Piece) joined the meeting. Alongside, the mangaka that defies Shounen Law and commits to character balance, Ohkubo (Soul Eater).

Both monthly and weekly mangas each had their own little angst and jaw dropping chapter, each illustrating developments in their plot lines. For any fan of the manaka's works, it'll be overwhelming for most of them, possible fangirl shriek in the school library to a immediate meeting with your forehead and palm, resulting in having a red mark on your head.

It seems like the authors are having a contest to see who had the most HATE in their chapter.

Okay, let us go into detail about each chapter, listing out what made this chapter very angsty. We'll start with Full Metal Alchemist.

• No one saw it coming! Seriously, like everyone died! After reading the raw and the translation, I couldn't help but making a quick LJ post about it. I was shocked to see Winry just die like that. Wasn't happy at all. On the otherside of things, Fathja used EVERYBODY'S SOULS (except the five sacrifices, Ling, May, Fathja and Pride) to open the planets gate, taking over god within Fathja's body. That's where the chapter ended.

This was the first chapter I read out of the rest of my weekly and monthly manga feed, and I was shocked about the outcome of this chapter. More so that Winry had passed on. However, I got over quickly and thought about where Arakawa was going with this. Maybe there is a way for them to bring them back alive.

Okay, as I was getting over that, Soul Eater was the next Raw release. I'm not going into too much details, because I'll make my monthly review of Soul Eater in a later post.

• Maka and Soul turned into Sherlock Holmes and Mr. Dear Watson. Black star catching frogs and witch slang to confuse most of the Shibusen Staff, asymmetrical torture of Cowboy Jesus and a sadden father who needed some witch lovin, provided by Spirit,God's right hand man. Finally, showing some feelings about his kidnapped son.
• Then, the chapter ends off with Kid back in the book and facing a very evil shadow ink looking thing.

Okay, not very angsty, but if you look at it through Shinigami-sama and Kiddo's point of view, they totally win in angst. But, we are not them, are we? So they technically lost in this contest. However, what was shocking was that the chapter is fifty pages. Additional ten extra pages were added to this chapter.

Next, was Naruto. Scanalations were out two days early, which shocked me when I heard it was out. Well, I read it and here is what happened.

• Karin was dying. Sasuke was going to kill her. Sakura was about to put Kiba, Lee and Sai to sleep, but Sai stopped them. Plus, all three wanted to fight Sai, because they want to get to Sasuke. Then, Sakura still had the sleep bomb and ignited. Naruto uses a bunshin to distract Yamato. Naruto goes after Sakura. Karin has flashback and then Sakura appears just before Sasuke kills Karin. Sakura told him she left the village to be with Sasuke.

My palm and forehead collided. I had my laptop out in class and was reading while the teacher was powering up the computer. Everyone looked at me and my red forehead, angry about what happened. What the hell did I just read? Was this some kind of joke from the scanalators? Really? This was really pathetic. I wanted to go to Japan, find Kishimoto, get him to make me a character in the series, my character will go to where Sakura is and bitch slap her.

The last two mangas I would like to point out are Bleach and One Piece. Let's start with Bleach.

• The fight against Aizen continues. The Vizards and Captains team up to give Ichigo an opening to get Aizen. He is standing there, holding his katana, with a dumbfounded look on his face. Well, Hitsugaya's blade pierces Aizen. They finally got the real Aizen. Hinamori got up from her wounded state and started walking. Then, Ichigo told them what the hell were they doing. When they look back at Aizen, they actually got the real Hinamori. The hinamori walking was actually Aizen. Finally, Aizen slices them all. Except Ichigo.

What a TURN OF EVENTS! Who saw that coming!? And what was Ironic was that Hitsugaya was the one who killed Hinamori, a long time friend of his. I was shocked. I was pissed too, because I wanted Aizen dead! Anyway, I remain speechless, because this is just sad.

The last one I have to point out is One Piece. I don't read One Piece, but my friends do, both internet and life friends. I went to school Thursday morning to see some  of my friends sadden by the new chapter. They told me about what happened.

• Portgas D. Ace died a honorable death. saving luffy.
   

Nuff Said. This chapter and series won the most Angst awards among the shounen giants. With Bleach right behind OP, Full Metal, Soul Eater and finally Naruto. And the award for the most stupid character so far goes to Haruno Sakura of Naruto. Congrats!

Anyway, last weeks chapters were horrifying. I was so much of a Manga mood last week, I finally caught up with Ouran High School manga and I was shocked to read the two remaining chapter I had to read. I'm not going into detail about it, but it was interesting.

I hope our beloved mangakas don't do something like this ever again.
