Wow...after making this video, I couldn't believe I made this video. I seriously do not believe I made this, but I am staring at the open vegas Let Me Go project and looking at the 19 layers of video clips and manga panels mixed in with the adjusted color balance of each layer.
HQ please!! And Read! This is very important. (MANGA SPOILERS TILL CHAPTER 60)
This amv is a little different from my usual simplistic style that you guys are use to. From time to time, I’ll be making one of these videos, but that’s if I can find a song I can stand listening to over and over again. This song is one of them.
Okay! This AMV was hard, because the song had three different sounds resonating together to make this great combination. The harsh tone vocals, the soft legato vocals and the unique sound the rest of the band was creating, making it very difficult to sync it with the video and manga clips.
I really wanted to make an AMV with some clips with Baba Yaga Arc, but the anime didn’t go too far into the manga. So, I decided to feed my obsession of this manga and arc with this amv, adding my favorite parts in the manga that go well with the song.
I tried making Kiddo and Noah’s encounter canon anime-wise, but I think I wasn’t too good at approaching it. I used the clips from the Soul Eater Monotone Princess Video Game (courtesy of my cousin; AmayaDesu), which Ohkubo designed one of the video game character and decided to use that character as Noah in the Manga. In the end, it turned out to be a great transition from anime to manga.
Story? Well, I guess the main theme of it is ‘letting go.’ After Kiddo was taken by Noah, Liz and Patti want to get him back, but Liz knows they didn’t stand a chance against him if Kiddo couldn’t last a few seconds against Noah. Liz had to make a difficult choice to let him go, because she could not risk losing her little sister too.
Black Star and Tsubaki was pretty obvious. Even if Tsubaki’s stages of Kata are the reason for Black Star to make it this far, Black Star, in the end, decided to fight with Mifune on equal ground. No tricks no nothing, just swords. Mifune has thrown away everything, except the sword in his hand. Black Star did the same and ask for Tsubaki to regulate the soul resonance and bring the weight of the sword to a regular katana. Tsubaki was hesitant, but she did it with Black Star finally saying ‘Thank you for everything.’
Soul and Maka was the hard part to portray in this kind of theme. I was playing around with several scenarios that happened in the manga. There was the Clown Arc when Maka was pulled in by insanity and Soul had to save her. Another one was when Soul was caught in Arachne’s magic and started to loose hope in himself, caving into darkness, giving his soul to Arachne. However, Maka comes in and gets him with a Maka chop. Telling himself that’ll he’ll become stronger for her sake.
But the one I actually choose was the fight with Arachne. Soul didn’t want to use his insanity in the battle, but he had no other choice. Maka was worried, but Soul told her not to be. She continues to fight against Arachne with the black blood dress Soul consume her with and defeated Arachne, making Soul the new Death Scythe.
I’m new to shaking, so it looks very very sluggish in the video. I tried going with the music and sometimes with the harsh vocals. Again, this song was pretty difficult because of the different sounds working together.
I wish I could add more of the fighting scenes into this, but the song isn’t seven minutes long. I REALLY wanted to add more Maka and Kidd fighting scenes, but for some reason I couldn’t feel any of those scenes into some parts of the song. This song is more suited for Black Star more than anybody else, but then again, the song fits pretty much with everybody if you put the manga into consideration.

Thanks to MentalProdigy for helping me with high quality video renders and getting the word out about my first account being purged. You’ve been a great friend and a huge influence!
Also thanks to my cousin from Japan, AmayaDesu, for sending me the video game cut scenes I needed to make this video and Kiddo-Noah encounter happen officially. This video wouldn’t have been completed if it wasn’t for your help.
I'm very proud of this video. It just shows you that you have to love the song throughout the making of a video. I was singing and headbanging at the screaming parts as I was making this. Even after making this, I love this song so much!
