SCENE START with Dawn ignoring her alarm clock, and Piplup taking the initiative to wake her up with a GLOWING PECK ATTACK.
He gets thrown off the bed for his troubles. BUT HAY ITS A NEW DAY. They run downstairs to see her mom, Brock and Pikachu, and find out Ash is still sleep.
So they decide to mess with him 8D
Hahahahah I love how Pikachu's attacks barely affect him at all. And Dawn and Ash are the cutest pseudo siblings, fft ;;
Anywho Ash grabs Pikachu and runs (read: falls) down the stairs like a dope, and then they all gather to eat and discuss leaving and such. Piplup is not pleased :'(
Gosh I love when Ash doesn't wear his cap, his hair is so weird but cute :|a ETERNAL HAT HAIR. They also bring up that one Pokemon Stylist contest Dawn won a while back--Brock remember how pretty whatsherface was (I FORGOT) and getting jabbed for it, Ash recalling his ridiculous blue demon costume with Pikachu.
I'm moreso pointing out details than summarizing. I LOVE that they are bringing up old adventures together aaah. The D/P trio just feels a bit tighter than previous ones, personally. Also is Dawn drinking coffee or cocoa. I'd go with the latter but you never know with kids these days!!
And Piplup continues to be displeased with all this talk of splitting up.
MEANWHILE ON ROUTE 202--
Random hoot-hoot dawww. BUT IT'S TEAM ROCKET TIME. What's that in the sky approaching them :O
FREAKING DELIBIRD FROM JOHTO. It's delivering GOOD NEWS possibly about the Isshu region.
pffft Team Rocket. There's a shot of Team Galactic and Pokemon Hunter J!
idk what's going on, but does headquarters really think the trio was responsible for getting rid of the competition? If so, that's hilarious. (though somewhat true since they helped Looker!)
ANYWAY they call TR HQ for instructions or something? Whatever the news they are HAPPY and cry tears of joy. Also I still love the fact that public phone booths have tv-screens in them in Pokemon world.
Then there is an Ominous Scene with Giovanni. So he really does remember them now or...:|a
MYSTERIOUS
CUT BACK TO THE TWERPS BEING CUTE AND CHATTING, and discussing Bunneary's talent, I think? Still discussing the Pokemon Style thing. But Piplup is at its wits end and looking at everyone.
hahahah sob he's just like GAWD YOU GUYS STOP PRETENDING LIKE THIS IS A NORMAL DAY IT'S SO SAD RRAR \o/ angry penguin. The others finally notices, Pikachu tries to calm him down, but then he just flips and throws a giant whirlpool on them and runs away.
And that's how prideful tiny penguins deal with separation issues! Anyway the twerps send out Staraptor and Togekiss to find Piplup and see what's wrong. Staraptor and Pikachu find him first, and get hydro pump'd for their troubles. CUE ADORABLE TACKLE.
Piplup is just like NO I HATE YOU BAW DX and runs away, right into Togekiss.
Togekiss is all motherly/sisterly at him and he BAWLS 8( Then goes to cry at Pikachu all "I'M SORRY MAN I LOVE YOU I DON'T WANT YOU TO LEAVE DX!!11" and pikachu starts crying too s-sob.
GROUP HUG. Man only in Pokemon will you find a bromance between a penugin and a rat. THEN SUDDENLY
Meowth's been listening and is SO MOVED :'(
lol psyche. CATCHIN' THE TWERPS' POKEYMANS.
gosh, too bad Pokemon don't have ultra super powers to break through such a thin net :|a;
Well that works too I guess. Staraptor blows up the balloon and Torterra slices the net when Ash and co get on the scene. BUT TEAM ROCKET AIN'T DONE YET. The twerps really Aren't In the Mood but Team Rocket's like WE'RE FEELING GOOD, WE GONNA DO THIS.
SO BATTLE TIME they all actually have a really cool looking battle. Even Meowth fights! But eventually it's time for the twerps to dominate, and Piplup and Pikachu pull off a big ass Volt Tackle/Hydro Pump combination.
Team Rocket's blasting off again.....but in Good Spirits! ON TO THE ISSHU REGION.
Pikachu and Piplup laugh and high five! (...high flipper?? Well Pikachu has five fingers but!!) until they realize wait we're sad :(
Comforting words from Dawn. It'll be okay dude :(
GRATUITOUS SCENERY SHOT and then after sometime, they're back at Dawn's house watching TV
CHAMPION CYNTHIA VS FLINT FROM THE E4 \o/ She's using her signature Garchomp and Flint has his own Infernape. He's challenging her for the title! Ash is SUPER focused on the battle, even seeing himself as Flint.
And like. I can't even describe the feeling of watching the battle. The original DP theme plays (Together) and there are no words spoken, just scene switching from AMAZING action, to Cynthia, to Flint, and then Ash again. He's super seeing himself as the person battling. It's just. Idk!! HE WANTS TO BE A MASTER SO BAD ;o;The battle itself looks amazing so have some random action shots.
And it comes down to Giga Impact vs Flare Blitz--!
CHAMPION CYNTHIA KEEPS HER CROWN \o/ Ash is SUPER PUMPED UP AT THIS.
He's like 'I'M STILL GONNA BE A POKEMON MASTER!!!111 >8D!!!" Which prompts the others to declare their goals--Dawn still wants to be a Top Coordinator, and Brock, no longer aiming to be a breeder, wants to be a Pokemon Doctor \o/!
Cue Johanna pointing out the time, and it's time for the twerps to get ready to depart. Apparently they have time to shop before going on their ferry!
Brock likes to stock up!
Dawn sends them off (Ash and Brock are leaving for Kanto), but before they board, she stops Ash. ONE LAST HIGH FIVE.
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW
And off they go, Dawn looking sad, before Ash and Brock call at her from the boat. Ash yells Dawn's catch phrase (DAIJOUBU however it's spelled/NO NEED TO WORRY) She laughs and waves back, and ends with one last still shot of Dawn and Piplup.
I wondered why they went with such a simple ending for the last theme of D/P and this is probably why! During the ending they showed flashbacks of scenes in D/P. I cried :(

Cut to Brock and Ash back in Kanto. They're say their real goodbyes and part ways.
Time for a new adventure :')
And so ends Pokemon Diamond and Pearl! It had four years of ups and downs (but mostly ups), a bunch of super amazing characters, and took a well welcomed step to fleshing out plots and character development for both the main characters and side but loved ones, like the gym leaders. I'm gonna miss it lots and will probably still spam lots of fanart and rants about it until Best Wishes officially premieres in two weeks, but! I'm glad that it's been wrapped up so nicely.
Here's hoping Isshu will bring just as much, if not more, awesomeness \o/
