TM: Childhood Ambitions

May 02, 2006 15:00

My childhood ambition was to merely get through Temple Training alive in one piece at all....*

I, like all Temple initiates, had one ambition: becoming a Jedi Knight. Oh, we told our teachers that our ambitions were as noble as learning true communion with the Force and other such drivel. But honestly? We all just wanted to get the hell out of there on the heels of a Jedi Master. When one of our lot was sent to the Agri Corps, we showed sympathy and spoke words of it being "the will of the Force" and being selected for a different path. But every night, in the privacy of our own heads, we sighed in relief that this time, it wasn't me.

I know some children would do anything to get chosen over another, and I won't lie; I used to be just as impetuous, seeing as how I was the oldest student at the Temple and my time was almost up. Thankfully, the Force had a plan for me and, by going down kicking and screaming, I ended up learning true humility along with the lesson that sometimes, you can't fight fate.

*ooc: Yeah, that would be my lame-ass attempt at double-striking out. Carry on.
