OK - so I have had this week off work, on my todd, with no plans whatsoever. It has been blissful.
Things I have done:
Watched Series one of Dexter. Serial Killing for the good of the people of Miami. pretty cool.
Did some weeding. Nice. Die Ragwort Die!
Watched Series one of The Wire. Possibly the best TV ever made. I am addicted. I watched so much of it back to back that I have begun to thinking in Baltimore Gangsta slang. "My Shorty is out east yo an' I need to move the main stash jus if five-o comin in and bust me crib no? S'aight for me pack me nine an my young 'uns on point, ya feel me?" This is disconcerting when attempting to buy a newspaper and crumpets from the Co-op in Malmesbury.
Read a biography of Pablo Escobar. Who was a very bad man indeed. But the seventh richest man in the world when I was five. When he surrendered to the Governemnt of Columbia he was so powerful that they let him build his own prison for himself, and employ his own prison guards.
Read books 3 and 4 of Greg Rucka's excellent Queen & Country - which is a comic about a modern james bond type chick and what she gets up to. Am impressed how accuarately an american writer can capture englishness so well. Very realistic in terms of language and culture. Not like most comics at all.
Went to the Bards one-day event, which I wasnt really up for to be honest. Weird big gaps between LT mainlines have impacted my keen - I currently do not have Game. This will be fixed by the Moot however. I think my holiday has been as much from LT as it has been from work really.
Re-potted some plants. talked to them a bit. Seemed to have no effect.
Watched a hell of a lot of Laurel and Hardy. Concluded that Waiting for Godot is basically Beckett writing a Laurel and Hardy play. Wished fervantly that someone had put on a production with them as Vladimir and Estragon. They were both still fit enough to perform when the play was first published.
Read a life story of Groucho Marx and watched a bunch of clips of him on YouTube. He was the funniest man in black and white by a mile.
Missed eleanor a whole bunch. But she's back soon : )
Relaxing wins.
