[Lucifer arrives at the Raven with Mazikeen. Lux is closed for the night, though he met Mazikeen there earlier. He's pleased at the modifications Mazikeen made to her outfit.]

[The eyebrow on the visible half of Mazikeen's face quirks up at this comment. Of course she has already scanned the other faces in the room, looking more for potential threats than anyone she recognises, but had not expected him to be so quick in his observance]

The vampire, Vlad Dracul? Yes, I told him that my mother is also called the mother of his kind. [she shrugs slightly; her mother was the origin of many things] It may be true.

[Lacroix walks over and gives them a cordial greeting]

Welcome and thank you for coming.

[He finds it amusing that most of the guests and their host for the evening are blood-drinkers. But he does not believe the intention of the invitation was merely to become acquainted.]

Dietrich von Lohengrin and Asher were both present at the opening of Lux. So was Saya Wallace. [He nods toward the direction of the entrance]

[Mazikeen leans in to murmur in his ear - despite accompanying Lucifer this evening this is the closest she has been to him. Such proximity is still hard on her, though she will not show it.]

I recall the Duke of Effrul's ball ending in a blaze. Let us hope this party contains less politic and intrigue.

[She straightens and nods toward the presumed host of this affair]

[Lacroix nods an affirmative. His expression gives nothing away.]

It's still too early to tell. But I have high hopes for the evening.

[It is perhaps the anonymity that Mazikeen finds strangest; in any of the Hell-realms a host would bow and scrape should Lucifer so much as deign to set foot on their property. Here he - both of them - may as well be equals among the assembled crowd. She wonders if he finds it a relief, but addresses her question to their host.]

Is some occasion being celebrated tonight, or are we gathered upon a whim?

It is not really a celebration, you could say it is closer to a whim but I have been planning on throwing a party for a while now. I have just had many interruptions that stopped me from going forward.

I am new to the City, Mr. Lacroix, but have already seen evidence of its fondness for interruptions. All looks well for this evening at least.

Yes, the City does not waste time at showing the newcomers just how intrusive it can be. I thank you, my staff and I take great care to bring this all together.
