my thoughts on yaoi: Life on Mars, Andromeda and Dresden Files version

Life on Mars (UK)

Currently in the middle of season 2 and I continue to be absolutely smitten with it.
Sam, Gene and Annie are just wonderful characters. Especially Annie just keeps getting more amazing with every passing episode.

The only negative aspect for me is Sam regularly triggering my secondhand-embarrassment squick button, lol.

Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda

Ah, one of my beloved wacky sci-fi shows. (Andromeda is right up there with Stargate: Atlantis and Farscape for me.)

I almost forgot just how much I loved all the characters (except Hunt >:|).
Especially Rommy (the non-human avatar of a warship) and her body language; a subtle head tilt and 'a Look', and you know that she is again marveling at the craziness of her crew.
But my favorite is still Harper <3

I just hope this time the channel doesn't suddenly stop airing it after the 4th season, so that I can FINALLY see how it really ends. (I think a lot of my hate for Hunt comes from that finale; everbody dies /sob except for Hunt, and then someone presses the reset button of the universe for him so that he can fuck it all up again. RAGE. Also, he's a dick.)

The Dresden Files

Kind of how I imagine the Harry Potter books to be, if the author had been a man, and Harry Potter not a twat (note: I like the Harry Potter books).

I'm so glad I picked it up during our Harz trip.
The main character, Harry Dresden, isn't your typical hero. He's morally grey, with some white and (more?) black edges. He's also kind of a dick (but in a good way).

And even though it's the 5th from a series of 11 books, the world and the characters are fleshed out enough for you to get sucked into it.
There's also some Exposition Talk from time to time in regards to relevant things that occurred in the previous books, but I cannot help but think those would be less "meh" inducing were the book in English.
Small villages in the middle of nowhere really should have some non-German versions of their books lying around. /grumble
(My falling-out-of-love with my mother tongue, let me show you it.)

Not yet completely through with the book, but I'll definitely get the other ones as well. In English.

Still waiting for Tales of Vesperia to arrive. I just hope the characters are as much fun as people make them out to be.
