Saw Watchmen yesterday with my friends. Loved it.

Couldn't help joining the knowing laughter of a few other watchers a few times, like when Rorschach and Nite Owl 2 are on their way to Ozymandias compound, the camera zooms out and there's a blue shimmer coming from it's back for a moment.

The music was awesome. Even though I can't believe they used Nena's "99 Luftballons" during the Dan/Laurie dinner scene. Probably edited into the German version for the lulz.

Only thing is disliked was the downright... clumsy gore. Bones breaking through skin, hands being chopped is all fine and dandy, but.
Preffered the way the comic did it; you really only see the blood splattering and it's still obvious what happens.

Same with the kidnapped girl. The way they spelled out what had happened to hear dimmed the impact a bit, at least for me. Friend felt very different about that, then again she doesn't know the comic (yet). Anyway.
Present someone following situation:
kidnapped girl, panties in an oven, blood on a wood board, impressing array of hacking tools and dogs in the garden gnawing on a bone.
Now change the last factor to "a bone with a children's shoe still on" and, well.
First way leaves the chance of innocent people not making the connection and for you to realize that you aren't innocent anymore because you did make the connection.

It's entirely possible I thought way too much about this.

Another thing. Rorschach slaughtering the girl's killer instead of leaving him to burn alive with a painful option for escape just felt... OOC?

The fighting scenes filled me with glee, but then again, hey, that's me.

Felt better about Rorschach's death this time. It was clear that there wasn't another way for him and/or Doctor Manhattan to end this. Also helped that Nite Owl 2 was around to see it and go "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO" and then punch in Ozymandias's face in for killing Rorschach, kinda millions of people.

Violence in movies probably shouldn't make me this giddy. /snorts

Transformers 2 trailer is even more happy tingles inducing on the big screen. Ngh.

Still don't know how I feel about the new Star Trek movie.

Do know how I feel about the new Terminator movie, though.
DO NOT WANT. /hates Christian Bale with the passion of a burning sun

rambling, fuck yeah
