Isn't it only fair that you tell me? I mean, now that you've... mentioned that you lied... if you aren't honest with me now, how will I be able to trust that you'll be honest in the future? If it's so important as you seem to let on......

I'll confess, I confessed the lie only to clear my own conscience. For, I s'pose I feel a concealed truth is better than a flat-out lie.
