In Praise Of Working Before Breakfast

Mar 26, 2006 10:15

I used to spend about half an hour each night after I had finished working organising all the stuff I needed to do the next day. But I've realised that I'm not very good starting off something very early in the morning (say 4:30) unless I've really been looking forward to it - in which case it's not work and I've usually stayed up the whole night doing it, instead. So I need a lead-in period before I get down to doing real stuff.

So now I use the extra half hour at night for 'real' work and get up a little earlier and do the organising-before-I-start thing then. If I sleep late then I just do the organise-y bit, have a cup of coffee*, and then get on with the real stuff. It seems to be (sort of) working.

Hmm, I still spend approx. 46 hours a week at this 'ere computer. Whereas I spend 44 hours a week at school... but I have 25 frees a fortnight, which means I spend 13 1/2 hours at school reading/netting/doing nothing anyway, which means I only spend about 30 hours a week doing school, and that's a generous estimate.

So, uh. The net triumphs over school and social life yet again!

I'm sure you were all fascinated by my need to tell you how incredibly lame my life is. Yes, yes you were.

*by which I mean, uh, breakfast

thought, computing, internet, school
