I can't let the death of Charlton Heston go by without saying something nice about him. His legacy will be his films and not being a spokesman for the NRA. I think his line was, "When guns are outlawed only damn dirty apes will have guns." Or something like that.
My favorite scene of his comes from "Soylent Green". He joins Edward G Robinson (in his last role) at the assisted death hospital and sees film of earth as it was with grass, trees, clear streams, running horses, and clear sky. The 1st movement of Beethoven's Sixth is playing, and he tears up saying, "I had no idea how beautiful." The next day, I went out a bought a record of the Sixth and stopped eating Space Food Sticks. I'll miss ya, Chuck.
