Halloween treats. No tricks.

Had a good Halloween this year. A few weeks ago, I found the local food store was selling the snack size O Henry candy bar in it's own bag! For years I could only find them as part of a variety pack. So I bought 6 bags in 3 weeks and I think I was the only one buying them. Ummmm, so hard to find, so good to eat.

S had Halloween at his school dorm. He dressed as a preppie 'cause that's what his dormmates think he is - always play to your strength.

L was an assasin which allowed him to wear a big warm coat, hat and carry a long sword. This was much better than being a ninja or a zombie. Ninjas hid behind trees, bushes, cars, and planter boxes on porches. Zombies took forever to walk from house to house. Assasins walk directly to each house and demand candy.

Ing. the five year old was a cheerleader, and F the 3 year old was a pirate. On the second time out (It was a cold wind so we stopped back for hot apple cider.) F was content to be in a warm stroller (the type you usually find behind a bicycle) and rather than get a treat he would comment on the decorations. I think he was enjoying going to other houses to see what their yards and porches were like. It's kind of like the first time I go to someone's house I start looking in the kitchen cupboards. Just who are these people!

Now it's a week later and the candy is gone (it's best to OD on the candy and get it out of the way), the days are darker & colder, and the air still smells of dead leaves. I look forward to the coming snow - it's cold and wet, and mushy, and crackling and cold and crunching and slippery and cold. Snow cover protects the plants, brightens the roadside at night and makes really cool forts.
