I guess Facebook has hit LJ hard, even the bakery site hasn't had a posting since March.
Things I've done (it's all about entertainment 'cause I'm still a baker):
Took my sons to see Les Miz last Dec. Excellent production and they were both leaning forward during the last 2 acts. Now I'm looking forward to the Hugh Jackman film.
Saw Arlo Guthrie at the Guthrie :) He sang mostly Woody songs which pleased the pro-union crowd. Stuart enjoyed it too.
Brought Stuart to the Fringe Fest last year, where we saw Tempests a sequel to Tempest but with the plot of Aliens. All the lines were Shakespearean and the cast played it as straight action/adventure. Very funny stuff.
This year Stu was IN the Fringe. It was a spoken word play about a high school bully, his girlfriend and the girl he bullies. The 3 characters were shadowed by their inner spirits. Stu did well as the bully. It had a lot of dance movement and was depressing even though his character was able to break away from his inner spirit at the end. Best of all his name was Kevin. Glad he told me before the play or I would have been laughing for a while.
Took Liam to the Fringe this year and besides Stu's play we saw a comedy about William Shatner. On stage were young Shat, Capt Kirk, T.J. Hooker, and Priceline Negotiator all stuck on a strange planet with paper mache rocks. Turns out the young Shatner wanted to kill Kirk so he wouldn't have to "attend endless conventions answering technical questions about a ship that never existed." Great stuff.
Peg and the family live out in Cokato on a horse farm. She deals with clients at her home so she calls it a people farm. Everyone is much more relaxed on the farm, but you know all about that. Liam has his own horse, Betty, a Clydesdale type of horse. Liam has hopes of becoming a jouster.
Liam is taking lessons in the harp, guitar, and piano. He plays harp with the community orchestra in Buffalo. We're currently watching the last year of Angel. Spike is his favorite character.
Took Liam up to Grand Marias to do a 3 day workshop at the North Folk School for making a long bow and arrows. (He read the Hunger Games books last year.) He's also learning to drive, which can be quite an adventure in it self.
Ren Fair is starting soon and I'm looking forward to that.
