If Anakin had not been overwhelmed by
pageant-related activities, or distracted by
blush-offs with
emotionally vulnerable young women, he might perhaps have noticed that it's been more than a week since he sent a highly glittery *cough*working girl*cough* to Obi-Wan from Vegas. Over a week without exasperated, lecturing holo messages, no long-suffering scoldings, nothing. Not a peep. If Anakin were wiser, perhaps this would worry him somewhat.
But perhaps he did notice, and perhaps he did wait nervously for the axe to fall. And perhaps, after days went by and no word came, he worried in his self-doubting little emo heart that finally, after one outrageous prank too many, his teacher had simply thrown up his hands in despair and quietly quit himself of a troublesome Padawan. Which would make the message he is about to receive even more shocking.
The image in the holo is of a Bothan Jedi Anakin only vaguely knows, roughly of an age with Obi-Wan. Her fur can be seen bristling in some agitation.
"Padawan Skywalker --
Kenobi asked me to pass on this message. He thanks you for your gift - the human woman you sent in tribute-" Her bristling grows more pronounced at that. "-and wishes you to know that he is in love, and he's leaving the Order to show 'Candy' the galaxy. He's leaving your instruction in the hands of Master Windu, as soon as your current posting is through."
Her voice becomes thornier, and she's clearly stopped delivering Obi-Wan's message. "Master Yoda is furious, Skywalker. The painted woman you sent followed Kenobi everywhere without cessation for three days - within the Temple, to the Senate buildings, and throughout the city, she clung to him and wouldn't leave. On the fourth they quarreled. They weren't seen on the fifth, and on the sixth day Kenobi declared himself to be in love, that he couldn't live within the bounds of the Jedi code any more, and left without any more explanation than that! He left me a short message telling how to contact you and left his lightsaber."
In the holo, she leans forward. "We don't know who that woman was, or what you think you're playing at, Skywalker, but you'd better have a lot of good answers when you get back. Firske out."
Never let it be said that Obi-Wan doesn't know how to get some of his own back.
