I skipped work again today -- apparently everything is running fine without my input (nothing less than I expected) -- and I looked through some old things of mine with Alfred. After the Manor was rebuilt, I wanted to set up my old room again as it had been and I thought it would be helpful to ship a couple of boxes of mementos from the house in France so that it would look more like it did before. We just got a chance now to look through the boxes that were sent and I came across something I haven't seen in years; after Hush, well, Tommy and I had our falling out, I had sent some things that particularly reminded me of him to the house in France because I didn't want to see them. Apparently the civil war strategy game we used to play was still there, although it's certainly not in the same condition it was so many years ago. The board is a bit more worn down than I remember it and the paint is chipping off of the pieces (not to mention that there are two or three missing completely) quite spectacularly.
I was just going to throw it out, but despite how tainted they are now, I can't say those memories are completely bad...
Thanks for coming over for lunch, Harvey. I was surprised to see you; thought you wouldn't be over today. It was much better eating with you than it would have been to eat alone, anyway. We made quite a mess on the table though. I'm glad we opted to clean it up rather than leave it for Alfred. On that note, you'll be sleeping here tonight, yes?
