The Backlog Continues.
Pegasus and I had been struggling to find a plan that would both work and not be too high-profile, when we got a windfall. A black-clothed Numan with several cybernetic parts strode int the office, and asked to be sent on the rescue mission. It was Elrond! Apparently the doctors in the city we had freed had pulled a few strings and gotten access to some top-secret android blueprints from the government. They were able to fashion cyborg replacements for all of Elrond's ruined body parts, and he had been revived harder, better, faster, and stronger. Feeling a great debt to society as a whole for the evil path he had lead for much of his first life, Elrond was determined to make his second chance count. Being an accomplished assassin, his stealth skills were just what we needed. Our plan was complete.

Elrond was a child of the streets on one of the larger cities of Dezolis. He lived by stealing, until he broke into the manor of one of the most feared crime lords on the entire planet. He was caught, but the mobster was impressed at how he had managed to evade nearly all of his security, and trained him as an assasin. He worked there for a while, until he broke off and sold his skills to the highest bidder, along with his only friend, Azreal. However, he grew more and more disturbed by the way he was spending his life, and went off to warn the party about Donovan's upcoming attack. Elrond was killed, and resurrected as a cyborg, and has decided to dedicate his life to the cause of good in attempt to make up for the sins of his past.

Pegasus and I dropped off Elrond near the base, and waited in the ship for his signal. He snuck into the prison where Zan, Mastadon, and Walter were being kept, and broke them out of their cell. As luck would have it, Ben Savage, the rather pompous second in command of the Hunter's Guild, was in the next cell over, and the four busted him out too. Savage revealed the truth about the Section 13 plot to Zan, Mast, and Walter, who had been in the dark so far about what was going on. According to Savage this entire prison was made up of Hunters that had been captured by Section 13, and were being held without due process.
Of course, they did what came naturally to them: They started a ruckus. After starting a riot in the cafeteria and arming many of the prisoners (high ranking officer Bernie Mack included), they left the battle with the guards to the inmates, and went to see if they could find their equipment or anything else of use. What they found was rather disturbing.
By chance, the group happened upon the medical station, and after interrogating the doctors, discovered that Zan had been in surgery for over a day before regaining consciousness, and the doctors had no idea why, since it was conducted entirely by Section 13 personnel. They also discovered a secret lab with DNA samples from hundreds of different monster, and a glowing capsule of some kind of liquid that no one could identify. They took all of the medical supplies, and then retrieved their confiscated equipment form the armory, battling many enemies along the way.
Finally, the time for the escape had come. Elrond phoned in to Pegasus and I, and we maneuvered the ship so that we could pick up the escapees as soon as possible. Bernie Mack's team of prisoners had started an enormous brawl with the guards in the prison's mech bay, and the party quickly joined the fray, with the help of a garbage can full of plastic explosive that Walter had whipped up from cleaning products in the janitor's closet.
The fight was furious and brutal. Bernie Mack's team had overtaken the foot soldiers easily, but they could not fight off 4 mechs on their own! Fortunately, Walter had recovered his Bantam Launcher, and Savage proved to be a hurricane of death that even gigantic machines could not stand up against. Sometimes I feel unsafe having that man around... However, something came up that none of us could have expected.
There, in the middle of the battlefield, stood Azreal, Elrond's old friend and partner. When Elrond quit the business, he and Azreal had a falling out, as his partner insisted on staying with the old ways, regardless of their morality. They faced off against each other in single combat, and Elrond was nearly killed by Azreal's near-mastery of the Flying Tiger Strike, a martial arts move that they had been developing when Elrond left. However, by studying Azreal's movements, Elrond was able to finally perfect the move, and struck down Azreal with a stunning blow. With tears in his eyes, he collapsed unconscious from the strain.
Zan and Mastadon took charge of one of the mechs, while Walter and Savage fought from the ground. As thing began to look as if they would never end, Pegasus and I reached the prison, and blasted open one of the walls. Pegasus, manning the laser turret, destroyed two of the opposing mechs and laid down cover fire as the Hunters all piled into the ship. That was my favorite part! It seems like all to often I lose out on my piece of the glory, but right then and there, I got to be the hero! I still feel warm and fuzzy thinking about it.
Pegasus gave the men an incredible speech, and we conducted a memorial for those who had died in the defense of everything the Guild stands for. He really is such an inspirational man, there are no words for it. He said that this affair with trying to frame us for the tanker attack, and the unlawful imprisonment of our members cannot go unpunished, and when you add to that the mile-long list of transgressions against freedom and rightousness that they have commited in the past, and it becomes clear that it is the duty of the Hunter's Guild to destroy Section 13, and restore justice to the Algo system.
On our return to Hunter Station, Pegasus declared open warfare on Section 13, declaring that the Hunters would no longer be taking independent jobs, and were now an entity unto themselves that would fight against injustice everywhere it was to be found, and remove the taint of corruption from the government. And so, our true mission was revealed.
