I had some dentistry work done on Friday and I had to get the left side of my mouth frozen up. Everything unfroze after about 24 hours ... except exactly left half of my tongue. Hmmmm ... laughing at my terrible predicament? Hgmph!

It's still same! I wonder if I can get disability? People with diminished eyesight and hearing get help ... is there any help for diminished taste?

(How's that for a joke set up?)

Hey Massey,

I had the same sort of thing happen to my tongue when I had my wisdoms pulled. The dental surgeon called it "numb tongue" I was like: "is that the technical term for it?"

He actually bruised a nerve in my tongue. Its been about 8 months and I'm still slowly recovering.

Anyway, time to start challenging unwitting people to spicy food eating contests. Suicide wings anyone?

I called my dentist today. She said mine shouldn't take near as long (6 to 8 weeks) since the nerve would have been nicked by the needle instead of possibly severed in the case of your surgery. I hope she's right ... it's limited my enjoyment of food.

8 months? That would drive me nuts.
