Shepard Jr. - Lucius Vakarian 2/6 anonymous October 17 2015, 09:23:03 UTC
Eventually, Lucius steeped up to his threats, his mandibles flaring in a simulation of a grin. "Do you want me to tell dad you're not resting? Man, can’t wait till he sends you to the old folks’ home. You won’t last a day in there.”

But the older turian had enough, not letting himself be intimidated by a brat who couldn’t even parallel park. Lucius widened his eyes and stopped the car dead in its tracks as his grandfather pointed his finger at him, glowering through the open window. "Do you want me to tell your parents about desecrating a national monument by hacking an ancient wall safe? For the third time?"

"You can't tell me they weren't grateful," the younger turian shrugged, feeling rather small at his senior’s unamused expression. "They couldn't get that thing open for months."

Vakarian Sr. continued. "Or nearly getting a restraining order from a pair of asari in the bar?"

"Again, not my fault," he fired up his hands upwards in defense. "If they didn't want their conversation overheard, they shouldn't have been talking so loud."

"Elete, do you see that turian?" the violet asari looked over her friend's shoulder rather perturbed, her hand on a half-empty glass of drink. It was barely noon but the bar was already stacked up with people of various races drinking and chatting the day away. Only one of them stood apart from all the others; a shorter turian with blue markings on his face who really didn’t seem to be up to anything good.

The pink asari turned into the general direction, seemingly oblivious to what her friend was referring to. "Which one, Noria?"

"That turian," Noria said, pointing with her chin as she kept her voice low and her suspicious gray eyes on him. "He keeps walking in and out of the bar and creeping around the tables."

Eventually, Elete noticed the younger turian who appeared to examine every table with his intense green eyes but most ignored him, while the others looked at him in utter confusion as he seemingly pretended to check his omni-tool. "He doesn't even look old enough to drink."

"Really? He just looks short. I can never tell with turians," the violet asari shrugged, only then noticing the kid stumbling his way toward their table, prompting her to sigh loudly. "Oh my Goddess, he’s coming this way. Just act natural. Maybe he’ll go away.”

Elete shrugged as well, continuing their conversation as best as she could, fully knowing the watchful eyes of a turian kid were approaching. “So, uh, I didn’t hear from you last weekend. Something going on?”

“It was a nightmare,” Noria scoffed, propping her hand against her forehead. “You know my dog, Kassie?”

The pink asari nodded. “One of those pets from Earth?”

“Yeah. She ran away last week. Got scared off by my neighbor.”

“Oh, I’m sorry.”

The violet asari sighed heavily and gripped her glass, barely noticing the turian who might or might not have been listening in on the conversation. “I mean, she gets dirty all the time, she’s so needy and gets scared at the slightest noise. But I still love her and I just couldn’t leave her all alone, so I searched for her the entire night.”

“Did you find her?”

Noria shook her head. “No. It was late and I was so tired. Then the next morning, this human woman came by the house with Kassie. Said her son found her and they found my address by scanning her dog tags,” she let out a light sigh with her hand on her chest and a smile on her face. “I was so relieved.”

Elete smiled along, her hands supporting her chin. “Aww, I’m glad she’s okay.”

“Yeah, me too. I never did get the woman’s name. She looked pretty familiar too,” the violet asari shrugged and took a sip of her drink. “Oh well, it’s probably not important.”
