Shepard walked into one of the training rooms. The hall was currently filled with fresh recruits, ready to be screamed at by the Cerberus instructor.
The Cerberus instructor. She was definitely the strangest human that Shepard has ever seen.
Curiously, she was also a biotic and a very strong one at that. Her language was very crude and her manners unrefined… still, Shepard had to admit that this human was a good teacher.
Shepard had spent the month under her tutelage, learning all kinds of crazy biotic moves that she never even considered possible before.
“Hello, Jack” she said to her when the woman came inside the room.
“Adriana…” she nodded at her.
Being the only two biotics on the base, barring Miss Lawson who was often absent, she and Shepard grew close together fast and became friends.
Ever since humanity discovered element zero and the possibility of human application, the human biotics were treated with suspicion by other humans. This sentiment even intensified after the asari invasion.
All asari were biotics and so humans instinctively came to equate human biotics with their enemy.
Fortunately, Cerberus was free of such prejudice and fully appreciated Jack and the other biotics… and they were right to do so. Jack was an unstoppable killing machine and she absolutely loathed the asari. Her biotics were on a power level matching the asari commandos.
Shepard was hoping that she would never have to fight Jack alone. Even though Jack said that Shepard was the best human biotic she has ever seen, she doubted that she would be able to defeat the woman one-on-one.
She turned to look at the new recruits.
Unlike traditional armies of the past, humans of all ages were members of the Cerberus. There was also much more equal gender ration and in some cases, women made up a majority of resistance units.
Shepard once asked Miranda Lawson about this. They theorized that it was due to the highly-sexualized nature of their opponents.
Shepard supposed that it was true. The asari represented an irresistible lure for the straight human males… although Shepard knew very well that even human women were often tempted by their offers.
The asari were very well aware of the sexual sway they held over the other races and used it to their advantage.
One of the lesser punishments, before slavery, for speaking against asari was mandatory visit to asari pleasure house… A human going inside as a protestor would be leaving as a happy and loyal citizen. One who would never challenge the asari rule… ever again.
All and all, most of the humanity was largely comfortable under the asari rule and they enjoyed the perks too much to ever wish to fight for their freedom.
Hence, the resistance recruits were usually motivated to join the fight by some personal reasons. Like one of their relatives or friends committing a crime and being sentenced to slavery off-world.
As Shepard looked the recruits over, she knew that they would be no exception.
“Listen up everyone” Jack called them to attention while Shepard stood quietly in the corner.
“My name is Jack, but from this point on, you will address me as ma’am since I will be training you”
“You come from all over the world… some of you are young, some old, some are men and some women” she walked in front of them and spoke while they followed her with their eyes.
“What connects you all is that the tentacle-heads fucked with you and you finally decided to fuck them back!” she screamed, drawing cheers from the crowd.
“And I do not mean that in the literal way” she added with a smile while the small crowd laughed.
