“My biotics?” Shepard repeated with amused voice.
“Yes, Shepard. As you surely know, human biotics are strictly forbidden and subject to registration” Miranda explained.
“Further more, you seem to be implanted with a Serrice council biotic amplifier. That is about the best biotic amplifier in the galaxy… and it is made by the asari.
How on Earth did you get it?” Miranda asked.
“My asari mistress gifted it to me as a reward for years of loyal service… isn’t it obvious?” Shepard said while snorting.
“Shepard…” Miranda chastised her.
“Fine! I stole it! You’re happy now?” Shepard said. “Three years ago, I was doing a delivery of basic medical supplies for a clinic in Hong Kong”
“I was once told that I had a biotic potential and I figured that it would be pretty neat to be able to use it as the asari bitches could” she explained.
“When I found one of those things unguarded, I stole it and ran. I didn’t even know it was ‘Serrice council’ until you just told me”
“An unlicensed surgeon had it implanted in me and miraculously, he didn’t screw it up. Suddenly, I could move things with my mind and it was pretty handy. I spent the next three years freelancing… apparently, functioning human biotics are pretty rare. I got a lot of money”
Shepard ended her narration and was silent for a moment.
“So, where did you get your biotics?” she asked Miranda.
The woman looked at her with shock.
“How did you know?” she asked.
Shepard smiled. “I felt a tingling when we shook hands and I figured it wasn’t just because of your impeccable looks” she said, making Miranda blush.
“And I saw the scar of your amplifier when you turned your back on me”
“You are very observant of your surroundings… most people would be too busy looking at other parts of my body” Miranda gave her a compliment followed by another blush.
“Hey, I managed to keep the tentacle heads from putting a collar on me for almost twenty years… I am VERY observant” she pointed out.
“I guess you are right” Miranda admitted and stood up, not answering Shepard's question about her biotics.
“Well, Adriana Shepard. You are a truly unique individual and after we verify your backstory, we would definitely like you to join our organization… welcome to the Cerberus” Miranda told her with a smile before turning to leave.
“I didn’t agree to join anything yet” Shepard pointed out. “What if I say no?” she called after her.
Miranda stopped in her tracks, turning her head to look at Shepard.
