The unexpected physical fight with the matriarch took a lot from Mirala.
“Curse that bitch!” she screamed.
She almost died when she was thrown out of the office window. Fortunately, Mirala managed to cushion her fall with biotics and land on one of the platforms.
Still, she knocked herself out for several hours before she regained her senses and managed to find a medical clinic to patch herself up.
At least the mission was a success. Liara T'Soni was dead.
She dialed the number of her employer on her omni-tool and waited for it to connect.
“Mission accomplished” she proudly announced as soon as it connected.
“My information says otherwise...” a deep angry computer generated voice said.
“What do you mean? I melded with her. I can still feel her spirit inside me” Mirala objected.
“You did a sloppy job. According to the hospital, T'Soni is expected to make a full recovery.”
“That's impossible!” Mirala screamed. The damned matriarch broke their connection before she completed her feeding, but there was no way Liara survived... was there?
“Tell me where she is! I will go and finish her” Mirala offered. She could not allow some love-sick maiden to escape her grasp.
“No. You have failed me. Our relationship is terminated”
“But..”
“As of now, I have alerted the justicars of your location... you better start running” he said with a glee in his voice, obvious even through the voice filters, before he disconnected.
Mirala cursed. She could not believe that such a perfect hunt could go to hell so quickly. That Liara survived.
And to think that she almost had her.
“Well, time to move on” she shrugged, knowing her mother was probably already on her way.
She would contact the eclipse to smuggle herself off world asap. She would also need a new false name... something like Morinth maybe.
“Yes, Morinth will do nicely.”
As Morinth walked in the direction of nearest eclipse base, she thought back to her meld with Liara. How much the maiden missed her lost lover, not letting go of her image, even in face of Morinth's attack.
Being secretly a hopeless romantic at heart, Morinth honestly hoped that this Shepard would come back to her one day.
