Lyria, Citadel
Later, after Lyria got to her apartment, she opened her terminal and began to write her report... beside other useful information obtained from his mind, her unknown employers were chiefly interested in two things:
1. Whether Alexey knew about any sort of humanity's secret plans to harm the asari or the other races.
2. What was his attitude to her species in light of their encounter.
Lyria wrote No; and very positive to those questions before sending her report away.
She stood up, walked to her bed and lied on it, considering her encounter with the human.
While it started as a mere job given to her by what she suspected to be the highest echelons of asari government, in the end, it turned out to be very pleasurable for them both.
Lyria decided that humanity was going to be her new favorite species... provided they decide to join the citadel and Lyria really hoped they would.
She was going to spend her vacation on Illium after this, but maybe she should visit the human homeworld instead...
Her omni-tool beeped and she looked it up, seeing a confirmation that her report was received and understood. Another beep a few seconds later informed her that one million credits have been deposited into her account.
Lyria smiled, taking out the gold coin Alexey gave to her. While she could still get a lot of credits for it, she was rather going to keep it as a memento of their encounter.
“Thank you, Alexey” she said to the empty apartment, thinking fondly of the human as she playfully flipped the coin in the air.
Alexey Preslak, human starship, deep space
Alexey was sitting in his quarters aboard the delegation ship which was now taking them back to Earth. He was working on his detailed report about the citadel species and their society... including his recommendation regarding humanities position to them.
He carefully reviewed the last paragraph.
“In conclusion, it is my believe that close cooperation with the citadel species is in best interest of humanity. It is my opinion that possible long-term benefits far out-weights the initial sacrifices and that our species can achieve much more this way instead of pursuing isolationist or militaristic options.”
He closed the pad and rubbed his tired eyes. He was secretly congratulating himself on finishing the entire report without thinking about Lyria... more than three or four times that is.
He wondered whether he could get a job on the Citadel, now that humanity would be joining them...
And Alexey was fairly certain they would be. He was actually surprised at the overall enthusiasm of most of the delegation members. Even those who were initially very skeptical were now rather endorsing the cooperation option.
Alexey eyes drifted in the direction of the person sharing the room with him. While this was a VIP delegation, humanity did not have any sort of luxury ships, and so even the top negotiators had to share a room on this voyage. To provide at least a small measure of privacy for the diplomats, blinds were installed between the beds.
His roommate was a very old english lady (probably over hundred years old) and she was a great pain in the ass to Alexey during the entire journey to the citadel.
Shouting “How humanity needed to stand alone and not submit themselves to these alien animals”...
He did not believe that anything could possibly change her mind from the isolationist option... and yet when he came back aboard, she was much less hostile and was reluctantly admitting that she would have to revise some of her opinions, tentatively admitting the possibility of cooperation.
Alexey heard her snoring in her bed as she was taking her afternoon nap. He almost turned away before he heard her mumbling from her sleep.
Something that sounded like “Sha'ira”... whatever that could be.
Alexey shrugged and turned over to catch some shut-eye himself, perhaps dreaming about Lyria again...
