“Nihlus,” Saren groaned. “You came.”
“Not the way I’d have liked,” Nihlus said with a wry flick of a mandible. “Have fun?”
“My head hurts….”
“I’m not surprised.” Nihlus hauled him to his feet, and the older turian wobbled a little before leaning heavily on Nihlus’s shoulder. “Spirits, how much did you have to drink?”
“Um….”
“You don’t know, do you?”
Saren shook his head, warm and pliant against Nihlus’s side. The icy silver of his eyes was dull and muted from the effects of the alcohol in his system, and he made a pleased trill in the back of his throat when Nihlus wrapped an arm around his waist to steady him.
“All right, you’re going to have to -“ Bailey trailed off as he caught sight of Saren leaning on Nihlus. “On second thought, I think we can probably skip the paperwork.” Saren giggled.
“That would be good, Officer,” Nihlus said.
“Right, I’ll show you two out….”

Saren’s headache unfolded behind his eyes like a stampede of angry krogan. He groaned and scrubbed a hand over his eyes, vainly trying to block out the artificial light that flooded in through the window.
“Serves you right,” Nihlus said, perched in front of the apartment’s tiny stove. Saren couldn’t tell what he was cooking, but it smelled amazing. “Getting that drunk is my job.”
“It was … stress relief.”
“I haven’t seen you in months, and instead of showing up and fucking my brains out, you go get drunk for stress relief?” Nihlus asked, a bitter note in his subvocals. “That’s not like you at all.”
Saren didn’t answer, and curled up on the bed like a kicked varren.
“…I’ll have breakfast ready in a few minutes,” Nihlus said, unwilling to push the issue further. “Which you are welcome to, even if you did leave me horny and alone last night before going off to cause a diplomatic incident.”
“It seemed like a good idea at the time.”
“I’m sure it did,” Nihlus said. “You’re lucky the humans have no idea who scrawled ‘Earth sucks!’ all over the walls of the embassy. That human C-Sec officer did you a big favor by calling me first.”
“Ugh,” was Saren’s only comment.
“So, feeling better now?” Nihlus asked.
Saren nodded.
“Good, because you are going to make this up to me,” Nihlus said, not even looking over his shoulder at Saren. “By taking me out to dinner. You owe me one after last night.”
“Nihlus …” Saren began.
“There’s that new dextro café in Zakera Ward that I’ve been wanting to try.” Nihlus scooped strips of fried Palaven swooper out of the pan and deposited them on a pair of plates, both of which already had a few piles of chopped fruit on them. “And then, I don’t know, take me to a movie. The new Blasto is supposed to be good.”
“Nihlus,” Saren grumbled.
“No, don’t interrupt,” Nihlus said. “Then, you are going to bring me back here and fuck my brains out. Repeatedly.” He dropped a plate by Saren’s head. “Sound good?”
“It’s acceptable.”
“Oh good, I’m glad you saw things my way,” Nihlus grinned, selecting a piece of fruit. “And if you’re good, maybe I’ll take you fishing somewhere nice.”
“Don’t push your luck.”
“I love you too, Saren.”

“No, Ambassador Udina, I have no idea who could have hacked your systems and changed your terminal’s default language to quarian,” Bailey explained for the fifth time. “Yes, sir, I agree it is an outrage … no, sir, I can’t pin it on Councilor Sparatus.”
Bailey heaved an exasperated sigh; Spectre Kryik’s bribe had better be something pretty spectacular if he was having to put up with this shit.

I am laughing at a volume that is completely inappropriate for this hour of the night gods help me.... This is utterly precious A!A. Nihlus' angry growl over the phone that ends up in Bailey's ear? And Saren getting drunk, and... and everything.
