"...and you're absolutely sure about that?" The heavily armored human woman asked again, a glimmer of hope still on her face.
"Yuuup." Li responded, folding his arms over his chest. "I'm sorry, but you just can't have my garage pass Commander. Your mission sounds important, but I'm not risking my job for it. Not even for a Spectre. You'll just have to suck up to one of the executives like everyone else."
She sighed in frustration, planting her hands on her hips. She obviously wasn't the type to suck up to anyone, because she wasn't having that. "There's nothing I can say to change your mind?"
"Nooope." He shook his head emphatically. He felt kind of bad; she seemed like a nice enough girl. Dedicated to her job for sure. And whatever she was doing did sound serious. But this place didn't run on good-will towards all sapients. Even if you hated the game, you had to play it around here just to get by. Everyone had to do it; even techs like him.
"Nothing I can do to persuade you?"
"N-" Li had started to say 'no' again when something clicked in his mind. His eyes narrowed and his expression and stance softened. He glanced the human woman- Shepard, if remembered correctly -over. It was hard to tell with all that armor, but...
"Think your friends could give us some space? Just for a couple minutes?"
Shepard wordlessly glanced over her shoulder. She'd brought a couple of 'associates' with her to the port: some Asari chick that always looked embarrassed or confused, and another Turian who seemed like he had a permanent stick up his ass- even for a Turian. The two of them turned away- albeit, reluctantly -and walked down the hallway out of earshot.
The moment they had some space, Li took a few steps forward, glancing her over again; focusing on her face this time. "What's your name kid? Your given name."
Shepard arched an eyebrow in suspicion, not quite sure what to make of this sudden change in attitude. Probably wasn't used to be called 'kid' either. Li assumed he was older than her- she looked like she was in her early or mid-thirties. "Jane..." She responded cautiously. "It's Jane."
"Alright, Jane..." A smile started to spread on his face as he leaned against the wall casually. "Well, now that I've had some time to think about it some more, I might, might, be able to lend you my garage pass."
Shepard's look of suspicion only intensified; she could see there was something behind this sudden u-turn. "What's the catch?"
Li shrugged. "Well I wouldn't call it a catch. It's more like a price, but I don't like calling it that either. Cheapens it."
Shepard looked ready to protest, but Li held his claws up in a pre-emptive move of defense. "It's nothing bad, honestly. I'm not going to have you break into corporate offices, or blackmail or executives or anything. None of that industrial espionage varren shit..."
His smile seemed to grow his mandibles spreading further apart, his claws lowering. "It's just a simple exchange, that's all."
"Ok then. Let's hear it." She shifted her weight from hip to hip, still wary.
"Sleep with me."
There was a long, drawn-out silence as Shepard stared at him, her face utterly blank. Her emotions completely were completely disguised as gears turned in her head. Then, finally:
"...seriously?"
Li cocked his head, smirking. "Huh. I would've thought you'd be more angry. Been all 'no way in hell,' or 'get away from me before I slug you one,' or something."
"Well I..." Her arms fell away from her hips. "I'm just, surprised, is all. I mean, no Turian has ever..." She tried to clear her throat, awkwardly, before continuing. "...I've never had a Turian, or any alien, well-"
"Wanna fuck you?" Li leaned back against the wall again, his grin quite mischievous. It was fun seeing a veteran soldier get all flustered by some old mechanic like him.
"I was gonna say 'hit on me,' but yeah. Pretty much." She looked Li up and down now. Holy shit, was she really considering this? Li had just done it on a lark, but if she was willing, he'd soooo tap that. He awaited her response with carefully veiled anticipation...

This was a very nice build up! I Lol'd at "he'd sooooo tap that", hell, it's Commander Shepard, who wouldn't? I'm really curious to see where they screw around at, I'm guessing they are in that little hallway?
