A wild offering appears! Setting: ME3, post-Sanctuary
-----
Miranda takes her shuttle out of Sanctuary. She had slapped medigel on her more serious injuries and grits her teeth through the rest as her hands fly across the flight control panel, trying to put as much as distance as she can from that nightmare of a place. Oriana, shaken but relatively unhurt, sits quietly next to her as they break through Horizon’s atmosphere. Once out in space, the former Cerberus operative sits ramrod straight against the chair, keeping her hands tightly coiled over the controls.
She steals a glance at her sister, who stares at the glass plating, mouth in a tight line. “It should be another half-hour before we reach the ship.”
Oriana says nothing.
“You’ll need to get looked at. Who knows what he could have done when you weren’t looking.”
Still nothing.
Miranda bites her lip. “After that, I’ll take you someplace safe.”
The silence stretches itself to a breaking point.
“Talk to me, please.”
Before she can say more, Oriana harshly exhales. “Yeah,” she begins, her voice high and off-pitch, “So how about those zombies, huh? Zombies made at a zombie factory disguised as a war refuge sanctioned by a human terrorist organization that’s funded and ran by our biological father, otherwise known as a megalomaniac who just wants to create his own dynasty using offspring he grew in test tubes like a lab experiment gone wrong-“
She swiftly turns to face her. “Ori-!”
“You wanted me to talk!”
Another silence settles itself over the shuttle’s occupants as its pilot pinches the bridge of her nose. Her ribs ache. Her head is pounding. “He simply had to tell you his grand master plan,” she says wearily.
“Of course he did,” Oriana snaps, “the man wouldn’t stop talking. Showed me-“She takes a gulp of air-“showed me the machinery too. The people. The whole bloody process.”
Miranda’s shoulders cave. “I couldn’t get to you fast enough.”
“I can’t forget what I saw,” she adds, vigorously shaking her head. “There was-too much.”
Quickly, before she can change her mind, Miranda awkwardly grabs her sister’s hand. Funny, that the woman genetically engineered to be literally flawless, specifically designed to excel at anything she puts her mind to, could fail so spectacularly at such a small gesture. This has never stopped her from trying though.
“I’m sorry,” she says, hoping that everything else she feels can be conveyed in two words.
She watches Oriana’s eyes water, but not spill, and her fingers eventually curl over the other’s hand. “You came. I’m just-glad that you came.”
Miranda nods, not trusting herself to speak. She’d know what the nod means. Oriana’s just as sharp as her, perhaps even more so. With one hand tightly gripping her sister, she turns back to the flight controls and sets the shuttle to autopilot. Her omni-tool buzzes to life, announcing messages and reminders, but she mutes its settings. Leaning back against the chair, she finally lets her own tears fall.

Because it is a really nice fic.
I love the sister bonding with these two! And, you know, not the...too friendly kind.
This was beautiful. Thank you.
