Shepard meandered over to the bar, both eyes wide as she spotted a familiar bar matron and what appears to be a baby. That begged many questions and she sauntered over, noticing how the asari matron had kept the baby close, most likely there was some sort of weapon hidden under the bar itself.

"Hey, can I get some...water?" Waking up to Aria's face wasn't something that she wanted to live through again.

"Sure." The asari, Shepard was pretty sure her name was Atheyta, got her a glass of water working over the cooing child.

"Cute baby, is it yours?"

"Naw, just babysitting for my brat."

"Huh." Shepard paid a bit more attention to the baby than her drink, a tiny bit mesmerized by the miracle of life. Didn't she promise Liara a child? Blue babies and all that jazz?

She nursed her water the same way she nursed her alcoholic drinks, fingers clutching the glass a bit too hard, her gaze far away. "She's beautiful."

"Yeah." Athetya said in agreement, her voice soft. "Just like her mama."

Shepard thought of her girlfriend, of the most beautiful asari maiden to ever grace the universe, and of her tears. She can wait until the war is over to have a child, she'd waited this long haven't she? A war and a few battles later isn't too much to ask.

Ohhh did Shep and Liara discus little blue children recently?? That's kind of harsh of Shepard though... "She can wait until the war is over to have a child, she'd waited this long haven't she?" ouch.

Why doesn't Aethyta just knock some sense into her granddaughter's father xD

Keep it coming!

I don't think Liara's told Shep yet anon.

I meant that maybe they've discussed children and Shep wasn't entirely thrilled at the idea (or at least the current timing)

Ah, yeah I kinda side with Shep about not being entirely thrilled on the whole bad timing thing. :/ But hey, looks like Shep would love the baby regardless. :)

As a general rule of thumb, Shepard isn't allowed near kids. It wasn't that she couldn't handle children but more that they reminded her of things she wouldn't wish to dwell on.

The person she was before wasn't the best of people.

Shepard prodded the little blue baby, a small smile on her face watching the asari's response to the prodding. Athetyta didn't seem to mind, perhaps she trusted that Shepard wouldn't kill it?

"Whose the mom?"

Atheyta glanced at her pausing mid swipe. "What is it to you?"

Shepard's faced a lot of angry parents before, some who were furious that their baby died under her command, some who were displeased with her decisions...and some who didn't think she was good for their child. She was a soldier. She understood.

"Well, I dunno..." The baby nommed on her finger. "Guess I figure I need something to cheer myself up. New life is something to be happy about. Right?"

"If you say so..." Atheyta thought about it for a few seconds before deciding to spill the beans. "See that asari over there?"

Shepard followed her finger. The familiar white armored asari....wait a second. "...Yes?"

"That one."

Athetya just watched as the human bolted towards the table, chuckling to herself. Sure she had her reservations about having a human around but her daughter didn't seem to mind too much. Liara was stubborn, just like Benezia. Besides, it wasn't as if humans lived that long. Not if this war had anything to say about it.

Her baby girl could do so much better.

If one were to describe how Shepard looked charging over to Liara's table, one would say that every living thing got out of her way quickly.

The first thought that Shepard had was that Liara had a kid with Feron. It made sense to Shepard, who'd had lovers before and when they vanished got new ones. She died didn't she? She died and had been dead for two years. People get lonely. Terribly lonely.

Besides Feron wasn't a bad type of a guy, sure she wouldn't let any kids of her date him but that was just her. Liara could love anyone she wants, especially when she dies. The last thing Shepard wants would be for Liara to live a thousand years without loving again.

This was the only reason why she didn't march up with her weapon out.

"Shep-" Liara nearly jumped as Shepard slammed her pistol onto the table. "Shepard?"

Liara had this adorable confused look on her face, one that said simply, are you crazy?

Shepard sat, hand on the table. "Okay, whose the father? Who do I need to shoot?"

"What?" Liara was flummoxed by Shepard's declaration.

"I said, whose the bastard who knocked you up and where can I find him/her. Then I'm going to shove my gun up his/her's ass and then threaten them." She said very matter-o-factly, as if having a gun shoved up one's orifice was not a threat in of its self. "And don't worry about the kid. I love her. I don't care whose the father. Okay, maybe a little but I care more on beating the shit out of that person for knocking you up and leaving you alone."

Shepard banged on the table full of righteous anger. The pistol jumped a good inch in the air before landing with a loud clatter.

Liara was lost for words. Truly her magnificent brain had failed her as she looked at her lover and father of her child.

"Is it Feron? If it is, I will skin him and let you wear him as a coat. Well, first I'll make him apologize to you."

Shepard's line of thinking was that, Liara had a thing, a fling and then broke up with that person when Shepard came back to life. And that she kept the child because well Liara is a nice person and nice people like kids. This train of logic as you can see never left the train station. At all. If ever.

"Shepard." Liara placed her hand over Shepard's hand mid rant. "She's yours."

"Then I'm gonna kick his--" The spiel faltered, a stutter forming. "My--mine? She's mine?"

"Yes."

"Oh." Stares at hand. Stares back at Liara. "Ohhhhh."

Shepard looked back at the bartender and then at Liara. "We made that cute thing?"

"Yes, dear. We did."
