Installing to Xbox

Xbox players: Have any of you tried installing ME2 to your hard drive? Is there any noticeable increase in quality? Also, I've never had a two-disk game before, do you have to install both disks?

I always install my games to the HDD because it makes the 360 quieter, and generally shortens the load times. You can install one, or both, it doesn't really matter.

Load times are faster and you don't get as much lag. It doesn't seem like it at first but if you go back to playing it without the game installed you start seeing a difference.

You do need to install both discs but you can wait until you get to disc two before installing it.

I always install games - mainly due to the noise. It's amazing just how loud those consoles are.

Plus the load-times are slightly reduced, which is always good.

Just a shame that the need for the console to still identify the disc means the disc-swap is still neccesary during the story.

You'll be given the option to install both discs. I always install games now, because it cuts down on heat and disc drive wear, as well as the speed boost.

They just updated the 360 to accept USB keys, too. So you can buy a USB key of up to 16GB, format it to the 360, then install games and run them off the key. A great alternative for people who have HDD space issues.

I have and it helps. I always fret that my XBox might start overheating from running the disk reader for so long. It just means the machine will run quieter (no disk running noise) and cooler. No visible render improvements that I've seen, or shortened load times.

As for the 2 disks, I've installed both. After a playthrough on the second disk, I went and installed it the next time I booted the system up. The console recognizes multi-disk games as such.

However I did notice a tiny improvement of speed for ME1 by installing it. Nothing MAJOR but just means a few textures load a teeny bit faster in some instances, and a couple random load times were a fraction shorter.

Please note that you still need to have the disk in the machine--even though it's not reading it anymore, I think it's Microsoft's way of making sure you keep the games you buy and install to the HD.
