Just unlocked the Talon Mercenary and wow is he fun. I keep forgetting that he's very squishy though - must be the bulging muscles exposed by his armor.
In any case, I'm still learning the trip mine stuff. It's baffling how they will go off sometimes but then you watch an enemy just waltz over it in other times. I'm also still learning the omni-bow thing and I love that you can carry a lot of weapons on him. I've finished up a couple of challenges that were close to completion with him and will probably use him for the really heavy weapons that I don't want to use on other characters.
I made his armor yellow because it looks so much like Zaeed's. ;_;
After someone suggested it, I tried running my Geth Soldier (that I had yet to touch yet, mind you.) with just the Acolyte. Oh my god. The one pistol I hated forever just needed to be put on a kit that could make good use of it. Also took a while to get used to aiming the Acolyte, what with it's gravity-affected shots that bounce off walls and stuff. I specced him for DPS on the flamer, and recovery from the fortification. (And figured out how my SP squaddies with Fortification keep making the noise of turning it on...)
It helped that the one silver match I took this build into had two Geth Juggs and a N7 Shadow. Most effective PUG I've had in a while. I didn't care that I was on the bottom of the heap with that build. It just made the Acolyte fun. (Also playing as a Volus conditioned me to not take cover while charging my Acolyte.) So happy to see the notification of getting 10k/14k on Acolyte use. Maybe I will max out that weapon if I play the Geth Soldier more?
I agree completely on pairing the Acolyte with the Geth Soldier. It is AMAZING how much better it is to use that weapon as more of a secondary option behind the Flamer ability. It is the only time I could stand using that pistol and my time as a Geth Soldier was some of my most fun.
Hurrah for finding a character you like the Acolyte on! + I forgot to mention, it is handy to have secondary gun to deal with Guardians because I'm pretty sure their shield blocks your flamer's damage and while it's not impossible it is difficult to kill them with an Acolyte. I usually bring the Geth Pulse Rifle as a secondary weapon but anything lightweight with piercing mod will do the trick :) This is Geth Solider Build, designed to run on gold/plat. On gold I find he needs no consumable gear (phasic rounds are useful so I do put level one rounds on if I have them) thanks to fortification giving him extra power damage + the ability to tank most damage.
