Found a paper while doing a bit of AI research for a rabid plot bunny on an original piece: Daily Life Among the Jupiter Brains - Anders Sandberg
I have not finished reading the paper, yet, but so far it's interesting and I think relevant to the ME'verse. It also may jump start a few plot bunnies, which is always a bonus.
For those of you not familiar with the name Anders Sandberg: he is one of the founders/original contributors of the Orion's Arm Universe Project.
I've been waiting for this all week. I started wondering about this for the last one shot I posted. I ended up ignoring it but I'd still like other people's thoughts in case it comes up again
( ... )
I don't see Garrus being Primarch myself, but I could easily see him being given a high rank and position in the military, especially so early that Victus would still be alive (assuming he didn't die in the Earth assault, that is.) Victus fought with him on Menae, knows he Gets Shit Done, and is unorthodox himself. I imagine Garrus ending up the Hierarchy's youngest general more than anything.
I wonder if turians would use the title "Executor" for other officers apart from the guy in charge of C-Sec. It has a good sound to it and basically just means "Person who gets something done" --- you'd just need to work in something about how it was a sort of separate from the military, but still recognised by the military/hierarchy title.
I don't usually see Garrus as the Primarch, but more as a high level advisor in something like security or intelligence. But maybe that's just me :)
After him avoiding discussing how far up the chain he was and the number of losses during the war I figured it would increase the odds of him becoming Primarch some day. Probably decades down the road though.
oops, I kinda wasn't clear - I think his odds of becoming Primarch are pretty good, it's just not a role I'd see him wanting to do. But I guess Victus was a good example of how that might not matter to the Hierarchy. (duty and all that).
So I guess I could see Garrus as Primarch, but hoping to get out of that role as soon as he was able to hand it to someone he saw as a better choice. :)
He was pretty clear about not wanting to be Primarch, though that doesn't mean the Turian people would take 'No' for an answer. I think 'Adviser' or 'Counselor' is a good designation for him. You could even make him 'Ambassador' if stated that the position, for Turians, encompasses more than just diplomacy.

Hello, Boot Camp Thursday! I've been working on a short ME1 comic off and on for a while now and I'm SO CLOSE to finishing finally, but...
How the heck does one enter and exit the Mako?
Does the door slide open to the left? Right? Upwards? Does it open out (or perhaps in) like a car door, or open downwards with a built in stair? I can't seem to find any info or reference images on this, and every instance I've found so far of someone leaving the Mako never shows the actual vehicle's door. I just want to show people in the process of getting inside the thing! It's one panel. ONE PANEL! ::sobs::
This may possibly have to be a case involving Artistic License. Anyways, thanks in advance everyone. ^_^
I'd say just go with whatever works best for your comic. If you've actively searched and can't find reference, I doubt most (if not all) average readers will remember a detail like that. (For what it's worth, I don't think we ever actually see the door mechanics in game at all.) You could even avoid the issue entirely with your paneling.
Thanks! I'm also pretty sure the door mechanics are never shown. Think I'll field the question to the BSN as my last attempt, then make something most certainly nonsensical up. ^_^;;;
I'm presuming that the Normandy wasn't the only ship that was using a mass relay whenever they went boom.
I got into this discussion with someone on some other post (BCT or elsewhere) who, rightly, pointed out that the Normandy was probably not using a mass relay when it went boom. Mass Relay travel is instantaneous. Therefore, there is nothing to be caught in.
So, elminating that, what they depicted at the end would have to be simple flight, most likely a representation of normal flight with the shockwave of a Relay explosion catching up to them.
On a slightly note- even though Cerberus is in a bad state at the end of 3 (Illusive man dead, their main base attacked)- would it be likely that some of their cells/operatives may still be out in the field etc?Yes, but given EDI's descriptions in ME2 of how Cerberus operates, only TIM would know what cells are out there and who is working on what
