Can I post two questions that have been killing me?
1) How is Udina a council member now? I'm sure I picked Anderson in EVERY playthrough. Do they rotate or something?
2) In "The Arrival" it was established that destroying a Mass Relay can wipe out a planet...so how is all of them going nuclear not killing the rest of the "survivors"?
1) Udina is made Councilor in the books, so he is in the games. I forget why but Anderson steps down I believe.
2) The theory on that is that the relays are "overloading" with whatever choice Shep makes, not outright exploding. Or if they are, the energy released isn't destructive, but transformative. There's no concrete answer in the game.
#2 is one of the many reasons people are confused on the endings. It's best to just NOT think about it, because we're likely never going to get a clear cut answer.
EDIT: It looked like the Normandy got sucked into a wormhole caused by the explosion to me. That's how I interpreted it.
Well they are exploding. As in a million pieces and doesn't the explosion take down the Normandy? This question is eating away at me.
It seems in the epilogue that Normandy is caught in whatever 'faster than light' wormhole space when the Relays are being destroyed, rather than in a Relay. So when the relays are dstroyed, its not actually physically near a Relay structure, but in the energy state it produces. So it wouldn't be taken out by explosion shrapnel.
Last time I checked, the Normandy's engines were actually running on mini mass relay technology, weren't they? Wouldn't the technology wiping out all mass relays also wipe out the Normandy, in this case? So. ...hmm.
Normandy crashes in every ending, no matter what you choose, and the godKid says he relays are destroyed no matter the choice. So . . . I'll just let that add to your confusion.
Well at least I'm not alone. That has to count for something. I was afraid that I was missing some crucial piece of plot for a while. Now I know it's just not there.
It sure looks like it...Its really sad. Well I guess this game will just turn into something I power down forever when I get to the end. Not sure I'll ever be able to play this game as much as I did the other two though.
I never felt how attached I was to Mordin until then. I mean I liked him but when his time came I was in tears.
That's the confusion. If blowing up a relay blows up the system, Shep WOULDN'T be alive, and no shot of them in the rubble. The Normandy gets caught in (what I thought) looked like a worm hole. That's how I thought they got transported/crashed on that planet. We never get to see exactly HOW the system looks like after Arrival, just that people describe it as "destroyed". You could headcanon what "destroyed" means, or just consider the events of Arrival an anamoly to fit whatever works best.

That is all.
