Ummm... how could she not know whether or not her character was romanceable? She recorded the dialogue, so it should be blatantly obvious to her, given that if there was romance potential, there would be romance dialogue? Unless she thinks they are going to cut it out of the game at the last minute, which wouldn't make sense.
Maybe she thinks by wording it that way it's not technically a spoiler?
As you say - it's pretty obvious. They wouldn't go to the trouble of scanning her face into the game and giving her that outfit if she was only going to be a minor character, and given that she's not a squadmate, it's only logical she's a romance option - otherwise she probably wouldn't have enough screentime to warrant all the effort they've put into her.
Ugh, here's hoping I don't have to have her on my ship, or if I do, that she's in some out-of-the-way place where I don't have to walk by her frequently.
I'm sure she's a very nice person (I have no idea who she is, as I am not a big follower of gaming websites), but I have zero interest in self-inserts into games. Even less so when all of the effort they put into her could have been put into something else for the game.
Well, in that interview, she said there was an option to kick her off, but she didn't know if that was before or after the romance was initiated. I hope it's before!
How is it a self-insert if Bioware is the one doing the inserting? Chobot doesn't work for Bioware.
That would imply Yvonne Strahovski is a self-insert because Bioware chose to use her both as the model and VA for Miranda.
They're both actors who got hired by a company to do a job. That she's in the industry was something Bioware took into account. But it's not a self-insert.
Just because a voice actor or actress records something doesn't necessarily mean it'll make it into the final game. Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale both recorded dialogue for all three possible romances (Kaidan, Ashley, Liara) in the original Mass Effect, but in the end product FemShep and ManShep only have two romance options each.
If this interview were taking place several months ago, I'd not have batted an eye at the comment. But at this late stage?? I'd be mighty shocked if the game wasn't in the polishing stages, as opposed to the constructing stages.
It reminds me of back when someone asked Greg Ellis on his Facebook page if he would be returning as Anders in DA II, and he said something like, "Yeah, I think so!"
That was the first red flag, seeing as though Anders was a full-fledged squadmate and thus would have had tons of dialogue for him to record.
