Happy Holidays,
masseffect!
I’m no good at art, so I’ve brought a writer-y type gift for you: Codex entries with technobabble to use in your creative endeavors.
It’s… the thought that counts, right? Right? >_>;;;;;
The two entries below are locations that I’ve mentioned in my fic, but feel free to use them however you want. I tried to keep the language style similar to the entries found in-game and as “generic” as possible so as not to interfere with anyone’s headcanon. They're meant to be fun and to be used as a jumping off point.
Only stipulation: If you use the entries verbatim, please credit.
Stations: Piazzi Station
Piazzi station is the first of two major military installations constructed at Earth’s L5 Lagrange point. A 2.9-kilometer diameter “Stanford Torus”-type space station, its design later influenced the larger Arcturus Station. Originally sponsored solely by the United Kingdom, after construction began in 2149, it was sold to the Systems Alliance after the discovery of the Sol's mass effect relay. Construction concluded in 2156. The Systems Alliance used the station as its military and political headquarters from its inauguration in 2153 until the First Contact War.
Piazzi was constructed using materials from the moon and metallic asteroids imported from the belt separating the Sol system’s “inner” and “outer” planets. Six of these asteroids remain near the station today and serve as recreational facilities and habitats to transients. Piazzi hosts a permanent population of 31,000.
Mostly administrative offices with a few agricultural areas, Piazzi is also home to the Piazzi Campus of the Systems Alliance Naval Academy. Many Systems Alliance engineers are graduates of the Piazzi Campus.
Hollywood actress and extreme stunt and swordsperson Cara Bueno was born on Piazzi in 2160. A recreational facility and dojo on Six, the largest of the hollowed-out asteroids, is named Bueno Swords Dining and Dojo in her honor.
Trivia/Geekery: Piazzi Station takes its name from Giuseppe Piazzi-astronomer, mathematician, and also a Catholic priest. Among other things, he discovered Ceres and oversaw the compilation of the Palermo Catalogue of Stars. Cara Bueno is a randomly generated "American" name from

Locations: Hawksmoor
Though the building isn’t what one would call “Prime Real Estate,” the location of Hawksmoor Barracks in Bachjet Ward of the Citadel is less expensive than buildings in Tayseri or Zakera. Located within less than a kilometer from the Citadel Security (C-Sec) Academy, Systems Alliance officials saw the strategic value of the building. During the Battle of the Citadel in 2183, the Alliance was able to use this to their advantage to co-ordinate efforts against the geth invaders.
Originally intended as only a residence for service members, the building is one hundred floors tall and sealed against the vacuum. It is a fairly new construct, built during an influx of elcor to the area in 2093. Most of its bulkheads, however, are as recent as yesterday. Ten of its floors are leased out to civilian contractors. One such contractor is the Ayndroid Group, an RRD laboratory who holds the proprietary technology to the Argus Scanner Array. Other floors feature the Alliance recruiting offices, recreational facilities, Fifth Fleet 63rd Scout Flotilla Headquarters, and service members' living quarters. Only one of many Alliance barracks located on the Citadel, Hawksmoor is the primary go-to for many a service member because of the 63rd Scout Flotilla Headquarters located within.
Keepers can be seen in various offices. A primary point of contention is the floors dedicated to service members’ recreational and dining facilities. Keepers rearrange the layouts of the floors on a regular basis. Refrigeration loss due to a power source vanishing mysteriously has led to food poisoning and food spoilage on several occasions since Hawksmoor was officially established in 2158. It has become such a problem in recent years that administrators are considering another building a “block” down from the current facility. Due to destruction of much of Bachjet Ward during the Battle of the Citadel, the move has been put on hold indefinitely.
Trivia/Geekery: Hawksmoor was named for Nicholas Hawksmoor, the architect of Westminster Abbey. The Ayndroid Group exists in canon universe and has ties to Cerberus.
Have fun!
I had no idea what to tag this.
