One of the guys on one of my guitar forums is apparently a really generous bastard. Last year, he gave a 7-string Jackson Christian Olde Wolbers signature model guitar (about a $700 or so guitar I think) to this goofy but nice guy in the Ukraine just because he's a huge Christian Wolbers fan and couldn't afford a decent guitar. Nice guy, right? Now, he's giving a guitar made by the Ibanez Los Angeles Custom Shop (not available to the public, only for endorsed artists, once in a rare while pop up used in the area of $2000) to someone else on the forum just because he figured the guy needed a new guitar. This guitar was made for Edward Rendini of the bands Cold and Darwin's Waiting Room, and I'm incredibly jealous.
That's a hell of a generous guy.
In other news, I've spent the last few days mopping up shit. The septic tank had another fit the day before yesterday, and this morning I woke up to another flood in my room, the bathroom, and the utility room. Apparently, when the guy came to snake the line, he turned the water on to see where it was coming out on the outside. Nobody thought to a) tell him that pretty much every drop of it would come back up via the toilet and the shower with the broken drain pan that causes water damage to the floor and walls every time this happens, or b) at least go keep an eye on it. What must have been quite some time later, I woke up to find two and a half rooms flooded worse than the other day, negating the cleaning I was doing yesterday and the night before last. The veneer on my cheap entertainment center is soggy and peeling.
I ended up getting an ASUS VH222H monitor, which is a slightly smaller and cheaper version of the one I mentioned a while back. It's fantastic, and my PS3 has been getting a lot more use now that I can see what's going on. Going from regular SD to full 1080p is a pretty huge jump, even if the display is physically only a fraction of the size of the old TV.
I've had the house to myself for most of this month. The others keep going to some place between here and Corpus Christi for four or five days at a time to help with some stuff some relatives are doing. I've actually been enjoying it for the most part. I've even been using the pool a bit, though the swarms of locusts that are screaming through the entire day and night lately really limit my time out there.
