Went to Cornerstone for the first time. We took Sarah Jo and my little brother, Matthew, who is 16. We spent most of the time walking around not catching bands. We were there for just a day and a half. The first night we went to main stage for Family Force Five, Skillet (or as I almost kept calling them, "skittle"..it's a weird dislexic thing), and Flyleaf. After that we stopped by the merch tent and went back to the hotel, The Pineapple Inn. It's a nice Bed and Breakfast. We had the "Charity" room which is in the very top of this old victorian home/Inn. I'm pretty sure it use to be the attic with all it's slanted wood walls and ceiling. It had 2 half baths (1 with toilet & sink and other with toilet & shower), a large bed, 2 small beds, a wicker lounger and chair. It was beautiful but dangerous, just ask shane who kept knocking his head on all the angled beams and our doorway at the bottom of the stairs. We all knocked our heads at least once (me once, everyone else at least twice. HA!)
Leaving K.C. to C-stone was interesting too. We packed up and hit the gas station before heading out. While at the counter, the guy working took notice of the large brass key necklace I was wearing and apparently thought I might appreciate a line like this...
"Is that the key to your heart?"
to which I replied,
"Actually it's the key to the trunk where I keep my guns."
Once we hit the road, we were under gray clouds and sprinkles most the way there.
Also, they have a good sense of humor in Ill. as they have named many roads "61" (5 or 6 of them).
Lots of corn.
The Frost Like Ashes show was awesome. There were a few people who left after the pentagram with goat skull came out (and just sat there for a couple while the song went on). The goblet with blood was cool, got a nice shot of that on the video camera. After the show I was treated to something new...Nyk without his shirt. Yep, being a "band babe" I get to see all the "behind the scenes" action. Nyk was covered in the fake blood so I held the mirror while he cleaned up. My brother thought it was so cool that Nyk was actually steaming, like a fajita!
Alltogether, pretty fun.
