Abney Park may not be able to come to Boston, but we can bring Boston to Abney Park!
First I would like to say a great big HELLO! MY name is Carol, and I help run Swing Goth. We have a huge, giant, ridiculously over-sized love of all things steamy, be they dance, or garb, or lazer beams, so I though I would join because it seems that our interests may be somewhat aligned. ;)
Speaking of aligning, I'm going to assume that at least some of you may have seen Robert from Abney Park's recent livejournal entry about trying to play a show in Boston. If not, you can view the thread here: http://robert-from-ap.livejournal.com/616510.html
They really wanted to try to make that happen, but unfortunately, a middle of the week show was just going to be too hard to pull off so last minute. However, they've talked to us, the folks of Swing Goth (www.swinggoth.com) who are also the promoters of Wonderland: A Tim Burton Ball (www.swinggoth.com/nyc/wonderland), and we think we've found a viable solution that will make everyone exceedingly happy.
The long and short of it that we want you to see be able to see Abney Park. So, if you want to attend the Tim Burton Ball in NYC where they will be performing, just email me, Carol, at voodoodollie@swinggoth.com because I'm trying to organize a ROUND TRIP! In order to do that, though, I needs to know what you want. To make this easier, I'm going to give you a list of viable options.
1) Do you want to go and come back in one night?
2) Do you want to go and have a group excursion to the Tim Burton exhibit at MoMA the next day?
3) Would you perhaps even want to make a weekend of it?

Abney Park hears you loud and clear, and at some point they will make sure they get out to Boston, possibly in conjunction yet again with the help of Swing Goth, but it's not going to be for a while. So if you want to see ABNEY PARK LIVE, this is the place to do it! Plus, this will give you two full shows! The first show will be chalk full of their newer material and the second show will focus largely on their back catalog, including a couple songs we just don't play live that much any more.
