OOC: Sending it from here (Robert Carle email, not Aelsius) since I'm lazy today :P

IC: “It is a pleasure to meet you, Legolas Muriel Autumnleaf, daughter of Sanuil, daughter of Ravidi,” Snow said with a small bow, head bowed in respect. For a moment, she could almost see a crowd of people around him, dressed in flowing robes and faces wearing masks to hide the schemes they undoubtedly plotted, and then the vision was gone, replaced once more by the man that had pulled her into a spiral of chaos and intrigue. “But, unfortunately, I wish we had not met this way.”

Limping slightly as he turned, the soldier began to move back towards the wrapped bundle that lay at the foot of the chair. His shoulders stiffened as if stealing himself against some imagined horror and his back straightened. She could not see his face as he knelt, one knee onto the planked floor, and place his sword lengthwise across the body.

“Gural Morigin Sunbreaker, son of Lesili, son of Morinis,” he said, his voice halting over every name, “I thank you for the service you have done your people. By the Anchor and the Way, may your soul sail the oceans forever, aiding those that will follow the path of the sea. So says I, Snow Panteris Dalahvis, son of Donias, son of Stalis.” Placing two fingers onto his forehead, he closed his eyes for a moment before lowering his hand and placing those same fingers upon where Gural's head would be.

After what felt like a lifetime, Snow stood up with the aid of the chair and turned towards Legolas. He seemed drawn out, the life drained from him, but something within him kept him going.

“Lady Autumnleaf, you may get to use your sword sooner than you hope,” he said softly, barely more than a whisper. “We must leave this cabin and head south towards Cemdil. There, I will meet up with someone who should help us deal with Jurvese and the rest of the traitorous Crimson Hawks.”

Legolas dropped a graceful curtsey before standing at respectful attention, head bowed, as Snow spoke to Gural. Her eyes glittered with a suspicious brightness as he spoke, the words washing over her like wind.

When he had finished, she walked over to kneel beside Gural. “Gural Morigin Sunbreaker, son of Lesili, son of Morinis,” she said, “Mother protect you and aid you and guide you, Father watch over your slumbering form, for you were brave and unafraid in the calm...and in the storm. By the acorn and the oak, by the wind and by the rain, by the life’s wheel and the spoke, in dreams shall we two meet again. By sunlight and shadow, by rowan and ash, by field and by meadow your memory shall last. So speaks Legolas Muriel Autumnleaf, daughter of Sanuil, daughter of Ravidi. By the great Bow and the Ancient, I say this: I, Legolas Muriel Autumnleaf, daughter of Sanuil, daughter of Ravidi.” She reached out her good hand as if to touch the bundle, but hesitated, and dropped the hand back to her side. Murmuring in a mixture of Elven and Common, “Aredhel melyanna...dear noble elf...fare well.”

She remained thus, kneeling, head bowed, for a few moments, before rising to her feet. Her eyes still glittered with the hint of tears, but her sorrow changed to concern as she looked at Snow, pale as he rose with help from the chair: “Sir...?” She reached out her good hand as if to steady him, but drew it back quicker than thought. Her voice was soft as a whisper yet cold as iron and bitter as grief: “Yes...by my bow, the troll shall pay.” She swallowed noisily, blinking back tears. “I, too, wish the circumstances of our meeting were more pleasant. If we were to meet, I should have preferred...” She stopped short and swallowed again. “How many suns to Cemdil?”
