You know, I was wondering if it was very weird to want to learn skateboarding in my 20's. I mean, clearly I have some like-minded friends (
tomturbo17,
lsw). But then I was browsing through the introductory entries on the
skatergirls community, and there are quite a few newbie 20-somethings. So maybe it's not as horribly solitary as I'm fearing.
I mean, I still expect there to be some sexism, but maybe it's not so bad.
Other thing I want to learn to do: free running. Or parkour. Both of these activities look like a rush and a half. And I'm reminded of afternoons when I'd going launching through the woods behind the cemetery. It was a kind of free run--pushing off rocks, leaping tree stumps--but nothing like the things you see now.
I should probably start with normal running though. Hmm, about that ...
