Christmas Day Alone Wasn't THAT Bad....

Dec 26, 2007 08:13

So for weeks, I've known I would be alone on Christmas Day...Steve had to work; he's a nurse...enough said. My did parents spent Christmas Eve night with us. But, they would leave pretty early Christmas morning; after all, my Dad hadn't seen his dog in almost 24 hours and Mom had to go to see my brother (who IS the golden child), his wife, kids and spend the day with them.

I'd gone through every lonely, pathetic scenerio in my head. But, as it turns out, I made a big breakfast for my Mom and Dad...we had good adult, meaningful conversation while we sat around the table and they stayed until almost 10AM; that's practically the next day for them! After they left, I cleaned up the dishes and arranged the gifts Steve and I exchanged under the tree. Then, I watched "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner" from beginning to end, and took a big 'ol Christmas nap. I woke up just in time to shower and leave to meet Steve at his parents house for dinner. After dinner, we came home and both tried to stay awake for a little while, we weren't very successful.

FYI...Steve did really well this year with my gifts:
1. A pair of FIERCE bowling shoes (yes, we are bowling nerds)...my teammates will be SO jealous!
2. DKNY Be Delicious (not only will i look good in my shoes, but I'll smell good too!)
3. Two nice sweaters (in my signature color...anything dark)
4. Rhianna's latest CD (Dang Boy, that gurl can sang!)
5. Scrabble (the Vintage Edition...I know, bowling AND Scrabble?)
6. A nice set of silverware (no comment other than we REALLY needed it)
7. A kick-ass pepper mill (I know, I'm a dork)
8. A stocking full of other goodies.

My Christmas was great....I hope yours was too!!

PS...Check out my son's band Vedge at www.reverbnation/vedge. He wrote, plays and sings the song Breathe on the website. His name is Dugan...he plays the guitar, banjo, ukulele and harmonica. I'm very proud of him.
