American Express....has it's advantages
Well it's official...I will no longer be an employee of the State of Ohio after the first of the year. I currently work under a University of Cincinnati contract at Ethicon Endo-Surgery; that contract will not be renewed and runs out 1/30/08. I need to work at UC until at least 3/31/08 to be vested.
Knowing my vesting issue, both UC and Ethicon have agreed to allow me to work under at temporary contract until I get vested. This is VERY good news....it means an additional $25,000, at least, into my retirement account.
As of 2/1/08 my team will work for American Express Travel Services Dept. I will switch over on 4/1/08. Working for American Express will definitely have it's advantages. In addition to a $5000 salary increase, there will be GREAT travel discounts, tons of room for advancement, and periodic bonuses. AmEx is also a VERY diverse companies and offers domestic partner benefits. YAY!!
I actually feel really good about the move.
Sidebar....we went to Indianapolis this past weekend to see our friend's Carl and Jimmy. We had the best time ever!!! Carl and Jimmy are two of the greatest guys ever. Although, by Sunday morning it was evident that Carl and I we twins separated at birth. Spooky!
On Saturday night we braved the elements to attend the Indy Men's Chorus Christmas Concert (Carl's a member). It was fabulous!!! Watching and listening to the chorus in that beautiful church really put me in the holiday mood...not to mention the snow and chilly weather.
