I am giving serious consideration to the possibility of starting up World of Warcraft again. I have been thinking this over for a few weeks. I am some distance from a decision

I would like you and I to have a conversation about how this is not going to happen...
No wait. I think that the concept of having "structured play times" may prove to be difficult. Don't you have to end up running quests/raids/nerdfests with other people that do not abide by the same schedule as yourself? Won't you feel bad when you're waist deep in dire boars only to disconnect at the end of your schedule.
I don't believe you are incapable of adhering to a schedule, but it seems like a schedule would detract a great deal from the enjoyment of the escapism you practice whilst getting lost in nerd-topia.
As far as immediate vicinity relationships go - let us take for example one of the many foolish looking communities such as http://gamerwidow.com/ sites like this don't thrive because people thinks it's hilarious impersonating people completely ignoring people on what they would describe as "this side of the screen". They do it because non nerds and a few nerds who managed to find themselves in a real-world relationship have been sucked in to addiction city and fucking love it there because who wants to fucking pay the bills, watch themselves get older, spend their free time picking apart the numerous miserable aspects of their life when they can fucking KILL RATS...
Economic depression? Not when a months worth of entertainment is cheaper than a meal out...
I guess my real problem is I want a new nerd game to play.
"I don't believe you are incapable of adhering to a schedule,..." Actually, it would be quite fair to believe that. That's ultimately what the whole internal conversation is about.
"....but it seems like a schedule would detract a great deal from the enjoyment of the escapism you practice whilst getting lost in nerd-topia. " arguably, yes. however, it depends largely on the intent and focus. for something to pour away an hour here or there, i think it's fine. as for playing with other people. that depends largely on who. am i playing with people i know? they'd know and appreciate the schedule ahead of time. as for just random server people, or even in game friends. they'd be less appreciative, but the schedule would have a buffer much of the time.
one of the things that interests me is the quests, the ones i haven't done, in some cases for races or classes i haven't been. i found shaman a tedious class to play, but the quest specific classes were fun. while the mage specific quests were almost after thoughts, and just hoops to get new spells.
