In-Character Information
Name: Ron DeLite
Game/Series: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations
Teacher/Student/Other: Other
Canon Point: Right after his two trials are over. Both of them. All of them. He is a free man.
Age: 23
Grade Level/Class Taught/Job: Security guard
Dorm or Living Arrangement: Dorm, for now.
Personality: Ron DeLite is a timid man married to a wild woman named Desirée. He is 23 years old, almost 5'8", and very animated in his actions. While timid, Ron is still passionate and heroic at times to a point of seeming pretentious, but brave all the same. Uh, sometimes. It's hard to tell.
That being said, Ron is also very indecisive. He can't ever leave the small details to rest, and if something he says is even a little misleading, Ron will be sure to correct himself by going into long tangents explaining why it's wrong and what he actually means by that, and trailing off to a point of inaudibility while doing so. He's very odd like that.
Even though Ron was framed for larceny (and he actually was guilty of it) and murder (which he was not guilty of), he has a heart of gold. Ron always has the best interest of others in mind and will do anything someone asks him to do if it'll please them. That's why he became a thief in the first place, actually, but I'll get to that in his history. I will add that Ron knew that by stealing, he was indirectly doing harm to others, but it seems he didn't want to think about that and got emotional when he knew he was doing a disservice to other people. Just as a side note.
He's super geeky when it comes to masked men with an aura of mystery. It doesn't matter if they're villainous or a hero or anything: Ron just loves them. He's liked them ever since he was young, and that's... sort of in-keeping with the fact that he's naive and childish. Still is today. His motives are very simple and usually has to do with the wants of others, since Ron never does much on his own volition. He's too indecisive for that.
Ron's pretty simple, but really flamboyant, whiny, and hard to follow. He's easy to embarrass and fluster. Ron is known well for his melodramatic outbursts that occur when he feels he needs to exclaim something important. He usually shouts when feeling this way. He's also sensitive to criticism and eager to please, so he'll fix whatever the problem is to the best of his ability. He's loyal, and- wait, am I describing a dog? I think I'm describing a dog. (Okay, haha, real funny Emily get on with it.) He often overreacts to small things. He's also very expressive and as easy to read as a book intended for kindergartners.
Backstory: Ron DeLite was raised in some pseudo Los Angeles, Japan CA where everything was strangely that much more Japanese. Ever since he was young, Ron idolized "mysterious masked men" and it wasn't rare to find him watching some cartoon, reading a comic, dressing up as his favorites, or even acting like them to a point of overkill. He was a super geeky kid about all this stuff, you see.
Sometimes you couldn't tell whether he was being serious about something when it held such extreme consequences. Like, you know, if your diamond ring went missing. If you asked him where it went, he might tell you he seriously stole it but there was no way you would be getting it back, for he had no intention of returning it in this over-dramatic and cartoon-like way. Of course, after much interrogating, you might figure out that he really has no idea where the ring went and that he was lying all along as a part of his character. Well, such things happened quite often when he was younger, but the outcome was always the same: Ron would never, ever, ever do anything that would make someone upset, much less do something slightly criminal. He was always out to make people happy.
Ron grew up with an uneventful childhood (perhaps riddled with injuries and bullying or something similar), went through a little bit of college, and settled on a job at KB Security as a security guard. He worked there for a while and surprisingly, he wasn't bad at his job. He never stood down to any baddies (not that they were frequent, but hey, it happens), and he was always vigilant and aware. On the job, Ron met his wife-to-be, Desirée, when he defended her from knife-wielding muggers. She was impressed by his brave and heroic attitude, and the two quickly fell in love and married soon after.
Not too long after, unfortunately, Ron was fired from his job at KB Security. Why? Desirée DeLite had a nasty spending appetite that gold-hearted Ron was eager to appease, and he would do anything for an extra buck if it meant his wife would be happy. That's why he sold company secrets- a big no-no. His boss discovered this and promptly fired him.
Ron didn't want to worry his beloved wife, so he did anything he could to keep this incident a secret. What could he do to earn money, and quick? It had to pay more than his previous job... and that was when he became Mask☆DeMasque, a fictional thief that Ron idolized. In fact, he idolized him so much that he convinced himself that he was the real Mask☆DeMasque, beyond a doubt!
Ron had to earn money for his wife somehow, and he knew just the thing that would earn money fast: to steal the Tear of Emanon, a precious gem worth big bucks. Ron notified the owner with a "
Salutations" card many days beforehand. Just so they knew he was coming to steal their stuff. Clad in his Mask☆DeMasque costume, he then proceeded with his plan and successfully stole the Tear of Emanon. He disposed his costume in the trash, but someone else caught him in the act...
After this, Ron began receiving blackmail letters from a mysterious person. They gave him detailed plans instructing him to steal various other precious items. In doing this, Ron would be paid generously, so he continued acting as the pawn of this mastermind.
That is, until he turned himself in for theft. Then,
his case happened. It was long. Very long. And perhaps consisted of more than just one case, because Ron wasn't going to be tried for just theft, oh no. He was also tried for the murder of KB's CEO, Kane Bullard, who was also his previous boss.
In reality, Ron was guilty of theft. However, Phoenix Wright, his defense attorney, managed to prove him not guilty, framing Luke Atmey (which, of course, was partially true, as Atmey was responsible for the planning and blackmailing of Ron). In proving his innocence of this case, he was arrested again for murder, which Phoenix had to prove was also committed by Luke Atmey at the same exact time. They learn after that Ron truly did steal a few things, but thanks to the double jeopardy rule in the court system, Ron couldn't be tried twice for something he'd already been absolved of guilt from.
Lucky break. Confetti was thrown.
After this occurrence, Ron wondered how he would make enough money for his wife in an honest manner! It seemed impossible, knowing her shopping habits. That is, until he was offered a job at Capcom Academy as a security guard, and he would be paid quite generously there. With a tearful goodbye, Ron went off to work at this school before - gasp! - Capcom Academy transferred him to that rowdy school called Smash Academy instead of employing him there. He was confused, sure, but it was the same job at a different school, right? So at Smash Academy, Ron was ready to start his new job and make sure his wife back home would be rich and happy.
Anything Else?: While Ron is not too good at speaking (as seen
pretty much any time he talks), his typing is different. You know, because you don't go out of your way to type in quirks, but he might abuse small font or something. When speaking, on the other hand, I will indicate his bad habit of growing quieter by trailing off lighter and lighter until you can barely read it on white background...
When he types, he might just use a lot of run-on sentences or something. And abuse big tags and small tags.
Oh, another thing. It is a small and unimportant thing about attire. Even though Ron looks pretty damn snazzy in his
Mask☆DeMasque outfit, he doesn't wear it all the time. He'll either dress very over-the-top or casually.
In-Character 1st person writing sample:
"Someone has sent your character an anonymous love note." {Text.}
Umm... I'm sure nobody will mind me asking, since it's the right thing to do and all. Well, I mean, unless this was supposed to be a secret, in which case I'm really sorry but I don't know what else to do with this note until I know who it actually belongs to...
Actually, what I was trying to say is that I found an unmarked love note in my room. It makes me sort of nervous just to look at it. I doubt it was for me, because NOTHING would get in between my love for Dessie! Er. Actually, it was addressed to 'Ron', but there's got to be a slight possibility that there's another Ron in this school, seeing that it's actually a pretty common name... So please! If you wrote this note, please come take it back! I don't want it!! I'M NOT IN LOVE WITH YOU!!
In-Character 3rd person writing sample:
"Your character is attempting to bake a triple-decker cake."
Ron wasn't too bad at baking. In fact, he was pretty good at it. Of course, just to claim it wouldn't do the job, so here was Ron, spatula in hand, and ready to tackle that triple-decker cake with the creamy vanilla frosting he carefully whipped up.
It wouldn't stand a chance. Everything was going so smoothly.
Well, uh, until Ron actually began frosting. That was going okay, too, but that mischievous Pichu that kept following him around wasn't going to let that happen. She slid through the cake, knocking it forward and onto Ron's clothes. Oh, and then onto the floor.
"AaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!" Ron screamed, falling to his knees. His fingers graced the edge of the ruined cake as he mourned for the sweet confection he had been slaving over for the past two hours. To witness something in ruins so easily and for it to have happened to quickly... the redhead sobbed.
Now where did that Pichu go? Ron wasn't sure what it was, but there was probably some reason the Pokémon wanted to go around and ruin his day. Not paying the mess of frosting and cake residue splashed across his front, he stood and went on a search for the Pichu. It didn't take long: once he was on his feet, the Electric-type Pokémon scampered from the doorway and lunged for a section of the cake.
"W-Wait!" Ron cried out, chasing the Pichu out the door. "I don't want to yell at you, so please! Just let me talk to you!!"
Somehow, the Pichu stopped. It probably had to do with Ron's pathetic crying that led her to believe he meant what he said, but she would let him talk his head off. Sure. She turned to Ron, grumpy written all over her face.
Ron gulped. "Umm... I'm not entirely sure why you want my cake so bad. Actually," he began, "I think I know why, because you stole my banana earlier and now you want my cake, so that probably means you're hungry..." The Pichu was now confused. That man just sort of trailed off there and kept mumbling something. "What I mean is that if you wanted some, you could have just asked me. If you're hungry, I can get you anything you want." Ron offered a sheepish smile.
The Pichu considered his generosity. She certainly didn't expect him to be okay with her devious actions, much less offer her whatever she wanted. So she dealt with this in the only way she knew how.
She flung the chunk of cake at Ron's face before running off in a fit of giggles.
Ron stood back up and accidentally wiped the cake off onto the floor. He sadly watched the Pichu run off before realizing that he should probably clean that up so the janitor wouldn't have to do it. So much to do... he would have to remake that cake, too.
