It appears the dreams broadcast are continuing to reflect the weather, then - in their erraticness, if nothing else. Perhaps that's supposed to be the other way around.

[Schneizel looks to be seated at a desk. From the camera angle, one can see his face, his small, pensive smile, but also the tabletop. A chessboard sits atop it, the pieces ( Read more... )

I don't think dreams really have rules or anything. You dream what you dream.

[But, oh, chess, it's been forever!]

I can play wizarding chess - same rules as Muggle chess but...it's more violent and interesting.

Certainly, but there does seem to be something of a running theme. Not all fit the curve, but most...

[He smiles, intrigued. 'Muggle' might be a term lost on him, but he assumes that must mean the type of chess he's familiar with.]

More violent? [what, do the pieces beat each other up and throw each other off the board?

oh.] If we're used to the same rules, at any rate, perhaps we could play a game.

Maybe it's just people dealing with it in their sleep or something. Like, if it's hot they dream about stuff to do with that.

[Ron beams because wizarding chess is the best thing ever.] The pieces beat each other up and stuff. [Yet more smiling; if he can't have Quidditch right now, he can at least have something else.] That'd be brilliant, I'm Ron by the way, Ron Weasley.

But it seems the dreams of water preceded the sudden rain, and the flood that followed.

[His eyebrows raise, his smile turning more bemused. There is a morbid sort of curiosity about this.] It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Schneizel.

Does this... wizarding chess require a special board, or is it done via another means?

That's kind of creepy then but as long as it's not a mass spider invasion, I'm not too bothered.

[But he wishes he hadn't said that because he feels all squirmy and horrible.] Schneizel? [Just checking because if it looked like he was about to say 'bless you' then it's because he sort of thought he might have sneezed but no.]

The pieces themselves are enchanted. They even talk - you should hear them when Harry plays because he's rubbish and they try to give him advice or tell him off.

[no ron you heard correctly :'D]

Such enchantments don't exist in my world - to my knowledge, that is. Though some players could certainly use the... helpful guidance.

You haven't lived until you've seen and heard a bishop shrieking at someone or a knight smashing another piece to bits. I probably have my set here actually.

[When Hermione was here before she'd had her bag of stuff and Ron had kept all his things in his room with him.]

Are you good at it then?

[He laughs lightly.] I would try to avoid setting myself up for things I wasn't confident in. [undefeated (kind of) awww yiis]

Some people can think they're really good at something but then they can find out that they're not because either everyone else is crap or that they were being nice.

Very true! If that's the case, I'm sure a match will reveal the truth.

Is there a venue or something? I only played it at school in the common room or at home.

Not that I know of, but with the majority of the city restored, finding somewhere should not be too difficult.

Will you give me a call when you've got a place for it? Wouldn't want to miss out, I could even drag Harry along, see if he learns how to play better.

Certainly. I look forward to seeing your ability for myself, Mr. Weasley.
