obsessions
I have an obsession with making lists. Right now I have several lists going. I have
a list of books to read (Sound and Fury, Catch 22, Anna Karenina, Baudolino, War and Peace, The Unbearable Lightness of Being)
a list of things to do before I leave ( buy some music, get my viola adjusted, visit nec, do laundry, pack, get my bow rehaired)
a list of pieces to learn next week (3 etudes, a hindemith concerto, a paganini sonata, and my part for the Brahms c minor quartet)
a list of things to do the day I get back to school (grocery shopping, more laundry, practice, unpack, clean my room)
a list of new years resolutions (sleep more, take better care of myself in general, stop dwelling on the past and freaking out about the future, practice more, make the best of what I have, mope less, waste fewer hours watching tv, do a crossword every day, read a book every week, spend less time in my own world, actually do the work for my classes, manage my money better)
a list of things I want in my playing (intonation, more variety in tone, more consistant vibrato, phrasing that makes sense, and a straight bow would be nice)
and a list of lists that I still have to make (grocery list, possible work-study jobs, people I should get to know better, people I should spend less time with, museums to visit, concerts to go to, etc)
