NaNoWriMo Novel Decided!

Alright, I've decided what novel I'm going to write for NaNoWriMo.

And the winner is.... the firefighter story I just posted that I sad would not be my NaNo novel.

Yes, that's right, I'm picking the story that I said I wouldn't pick. Why? Well, that's pretty easy. This story hasn't left me alone since I thought it up. Also, I've been struggling with the other two ideas. I love both of them, but I'm having trouble outlining Rob Loxley, and I just can't seem to get that excited about a novel-length Beanstalk story. I think that one needs to be a short story.

So, those two books will go on the back burner, and I'll be writing The Staff of the Firefighter (working title). Here's the basics of the story.

Our heroine is a young girl named Shara. She lives in the cabin her father built before she was born, and has lived alone since her dad died a few years ago. She works as a forester of sorts, selling furs and wood to the town not to far away in return for the few supplies she needs. It turns out, however, that years ago, her father was a FireFighter. He was accused of a crime, found guilty and banished from the order. Recently, however, his apprentice, now a master FireFighter, has discovered evidence that Shara's father was innocent, and that the crime was committed by another FireFighter. This other FireFighter is really in league with the demons. So, Master FireFighter travels to Shara's place with his apprentice to find her father, not knowing he is dead. Upon arrival, a fire starts, and a demon appears. During the fight, the Master is killed, but not before he forces his staff into Shara's hand, and tells her that the proof is in a town called Waverly (working name). With her home burned, and a staff she doesn't want, but a mystery regarding her father's true past, Shara reluctantly travels to this town with the Apprentice to find the truth and hopefully return the staff to the leaders of the Academy of FireFighters.

Along the way, Evil FireFighter sends more demons after her, and she and the Apprentice fall in love. By the end of the story, they reach the Academy, where Evil FireFighter has started a huge fire throughout the city. Shara and the Apprentice face and defeat the Evil FireFighter.

I think it's a good bases for a story, and will work out the details as I go.

Anyway, now I've decided, my next step is to do some research on the nature of fire and firefighting.

Wish me luck!
