Okay, so now down the NaNoWriMo nitty gritty. What the hell am I going to write?
I've got two ideas I'm working with so far. Originally, I only had one, but then this other idea popped into my head, and I haven't been able to drop it. So, now I have to pick between the two. I was hoping that my old (and possibly new) LJ friends would be able to help me out.
So, here's my ideas.
One Harp, Hold the Beanstalk. The story of Jack and the Beanstalk, with a sci-fi twist. HARP is an AI construct, programmed to be a tutor for young aristocrats of the galaxy. Unfortunately, she's a bit of a prankster, and this results in her being arrested and placed onboard a spaceship run by the "giant." Hacking into the ships computers, she manages to get the ship to stop in orbit over this backwater little world, where she discovers Jack, a less than honorable man who is also less than intelligent. HARP decides to use Jack to free her from the "giant" and his ship. The idea is to do this one up as a comedy.
The Legend of Rob Loxley. The story of Robin Hood, only set in a western. It's amazingly easy to transfer Robin and the Merry Men into pretty much any setting, but I really love the idea of it being a western. Robin "Rob" Loxley is returning to his family's ranch from the Civil War, only to discover that the ranch has been taken by the Sheriff, who is working for John Prince, a land baron that owns much of the land in and around Nottingham. Rob refuses to submit to this new rule, and becomes an outlaw. He bands together with other outlaws, including a Native American and a black John Little, and fights against the injustices of the Sheriff and John Prince!
So, there's my ideas. Both are completely kick ass as far as I am concerned, and I'm just having trouble picking which one I want to write for NaNoWriMo. I really want to get started on an outline soon (like next week), so I need to pick an idea and stick with it quickly. So... HELP!!!
