Today's a bit of a haze. Partly because I'm ready to fall asleep; partly because it turned out to be filled with so much fun.
I'm not certain what time I rolled out of bed (for the second time), but after I did, I headed down to get something to eat. After eating a sandwich and chatting with a random stranger, I headed off in search of panels. I kicked the day off with a discussion of the best games. Some that sound like they might be interesting, or at least lookup worthy are Braid, Mirror's Edge, Pigeon Pinata Pummel, Jetset, Comfort of Strangers, and Hip Sync. (The last one sounds a bit like some of the things that Improv Everywhere led people in doing.
I still had some finalizing of the referral reward list to take care of, so I took care of that in between stopping in at Ops to see if there were any issues. I spent some time playing Free Space until it was a bit after 2:00 PM. After that, J. & I headed out to get steel wool to scrub the grills used in Consuite. In preparation, I looked up directions for going to Home Depot, somehow forgetting that SOS pads and the like are steel wool. *smacks self* We had a nice drive down around the airport before coming back and finding them at Kroger.
Later in the afternoon, I headed to the Open Hardware presentation, where I learned a bit about
arduino. The line didn't seem to be forming yet for Brazilian beef, so i headed over to the dealers room, where I purchased I couple of toys I'd been considering since Friday.
After dropping them off at the room, I decided to get on line for beef, which is where I ended up spending a large chunk of the evening. Fortunately, I happened to get on line right behind J., who was speaking with D. Behind us were E. and P. (?), and our ragtag group ended up chatting and playing the Morton's List game for the next few hours while we waited in line.
The beef was well worth the wait. Would purchase from seller again. A+++++++.
As luck would have it, a new batch of liquid nitrogen ice cream (chai flavor) was available just as we finished eating. This is easily my favorite flavor of LN2 ice cream.
After that, I had an interesting conversation with K. regarding his desire to have introductory Linux sessions at Penguicon. Another person came by and started a new conversation with K, so I tried to gracefully exit as I was getting tired. I suspect that I was not entirely successful, as I was too tired to ensure I left smoothly.
J. & D. had mentioned wanting to floss earlier, so I took some dental floss upstairs, grabbing one of my new toys to take with me. We then spent the next few hours on target practice, using my catapult to launch marshmallows across the room. I hope that I never cease to be amazed by how much fun it can be just to do silly things with a simple toy.
