I decided to skip the last two cases in Game 1, which I am super late with, and start catching up with Game 2, which I'm more interested in playing anyway since I haven't played it in a year or so. Don't kill me Sil. ;_; I'll probably post a short round-up of case 4 and 5 eventually, but I want to get caught up with the second game first.
Oh man, I forgot how melodramatically awesome Phoenix's dream sequence is. GIANT JUDGE SMASH! Also, napping before a trial? Jesus, Wright, get some damn sleep. (Like I should talk, staying up all night to RP.) Man, though, losing your memory is one of the cheesiest tropes ever. Though I guess it was for a good reason here. Still...
Oh Maggey, such a Phoenix Wright fangirl. I like her, she's a cute character. It took me stupidly hours to figure out the damn name thing. But I did figure it out myself, unlike some of the clues in this game. This is one of the few cases that I've played in both English and Japanese, and the clue is a thousand times easier to figure out in Japanese. The difference is closer to the difference between MAGI and Maggey, but this is the only way they could have made it work. Then again, the Ami/I am clue in 2-2 is much easier in English than in Japanese, so I guess that balances out. I'm always accidentally switching stuff around like it is in Japanese myself....
Anyhow, Maggey is a cutie, but what the hell. "YOU HAVE AMNESIA I'LL FIX IT LET ME KICK YOU IN THE HEAD"
Wellington is so damn hilarious. I love how even Payne hates him. All in all this was a pretty fun case, pretty quick too. I like how Phoenix describes Wellington in a nutshell at the end. "Yeah, dude's paranoid and crazy. Whaddaya gonna do?"
I think that Dustin is the first victim (In the games as they were originally put out) that we see (other than Mia, of course) who is not a huge jerk. Think about it, Cindy Stone was too wimpy to break up with a dude, Jack Hammer decided to try to do harm to Dee in response to her blackmail, Robert Hammond was a big fat fathead jerk... Goodman was a good man, though, hence the name. A little oblivious, it seems, but that runs in the detective family I guess. Anyhow, not that it makes them any more deserving of being murdered... I, in fact, kind of like that they're not presented as perfectly perfect nice dead people. The fact that the victims have personalities, even though you rarely have an opportunity to actually meet them, (The only ones are Mia, Dr. Grey, and Misty Fey) is really a sign of good writing more than anything else. I like it when you get that chance to see the victims through the eyes of the people who knew them. Although I'm still dying to know what the relationship between Maggey and Dustin actually was... Gumshoe is so cute around her~! They would be the most adorable inept couple ever.
I'm gonna be behind for a while, it seems...
