Girls in the Lead?!
So finally I've gotten Guiding after the mess that was registering in South Lan. It worked the first time but then it came back with East Ren on it (wrong county), 2 months later new appointment card with South Lan but Guiding stopped. Today I've gotten a new appointment card (again South Lan) which leads me to believe that they took me off the system when my ER card was sent back and the South Lan card was already in my possession. I think I've been leading the Brownies here without actually being registered..... oops not my fault honest and the registrations sec knew I was there so....
What is going on with the straplines GGUK keeps coming up with?! This one is only marginally better than Surprise Yourself. Doesn't stop it becoming irritating tho.
And while I'm on the shocked front.... Designer, Healthy Heart, Brownie Skills and Number Fun for the new Brownie badges!? I knew they were coming but what the? Brownie Skills is only there because they are no longer covering those 'map reading' type things with the handbooks (bring back Footpath, Road and Highway!) and as for Number Fun, someone's been learning from the American Girl Scout programe, clearly. Healthy Heart is a response to the childhood obesity crisis but what was wrong with Brownies are Healthy. Oh sorry we don't follow that 8 point programe any more. UGH!
I can see myself putting the Brownies through things like Brownie Skills as part of the pack programe. In fact I might make it a requirement that our 8 yo Brownies earn that one, in the same way we get them through Hostess with the coffee mornings and World Guiding at the Thinking Day Party.
I'm liking the new METAL Brownie Sash pin tho. I'm sick of them breaking left, right and centre. Next they HAVE to change the Sixer and Seconder badges to metal. If it's good enough for the Guides then it's good enough for the Brownies.
