First, an art rec.
Seriously AMAZING vector poster. Words cannot describe how amazing it is. GO SEE IT NOW.
This post is for the rest of my plotbunnies so far, and some character thoughts that didn't really fit into the headcanon post. Again, feel free to use any that catch your eye! Warnings for talk of rape/non-con, addiction, and death.
Michael and sexuality
Because I think he would have a lot of hangups about sex, what with his canon low self-esteem, LLI possibly leading to sensory overload, and my fanon interpretation of him being a very clean/sterile and orderly person, almost to the point of OCD (although this would be as a coping mechanism for his LLI more than actual OCD or his innate personality). So I would like to explore the possibility of Michael being asexual and in a romantic relationship with Lincoln, with Michael giving Lincoln permission to have sexual relationships with other people. I could see Lincoln being an awesome, supportive big brother/partner, despite him not quite understanding Michael. At first he's hesitant to have sex with other people, but he does get frustrated at times, even though Michael gives him handjobs occasionally. Eventually Lincoln realizes that Michael's not testing him, or being insecure and giving Lincoln an out of their relationship, it's just a way for Michael to give Lincoln something that Michael can't give him. So sometimes they go to a bar together, and Lincoln will pick up someone in the back room, but Michael knows that Lincoln will always leave with him, and that's ok.
Alternatively, I'd like to see some post-escape, everybody lives AU where Michael and Sara are together, but Michael has so many hang-ups about sex (also, lots of guilt re: Sara) that he can't bring himself to have sex with her. Their relationship is almost completely typical: they live together in a little house on the beach, they go out on dates, talk a lot, and sometimes Michael will pleasure her. But he always denies her offers to reciprocate and makes up a lie that he's asexual because he doesn't feel comfortable in letting himself go around her. Sara doesn't make him do anything sexual, but he will initiate sexual contact sometimes, and treats her so reverently; taking her clothes off slowly and gently as if she's something to be worshipped. But he always stays fully clothed. Sometimes, after, Michael holds her, and they have their post-coital bliss moments. Other times, Michael slips out of the room, out of the house, to visit Lincoln in his and LJ's house a little ways down the beach. Lincoln, who is the only person that Michael feels comfortable enough to completely let go with. Lincoln's been by Michael's side when he was trembling, overwhelmed by his senses as a child. He was there through lonely nights after their mom's death, and in foster homes, holding Michael in his arms and making him finally feel safe enough to let the tears come. Helping Michael through an orgasm just felt like a natural progression. Lincoln feels guilty now (he always has, but more so now with Sara in the picture), but he can't bring himself to stop giving Michael what he needs. This could either end up angsty and unresolved, Sara finding out and breaking up with Michael (further driving Michael to Lincoln), or with sexy OT3-times, featuring Lincoln telling Sara what Michael likes sexually *g*
Kellerman in a blues club
Because YES. There are few PB characters who I strongly associate with music, but Kellerman is one of them. Possibly pre-series reflection on the lengths he's willing to go to for Caroline, or set in my headcanon!S3 verse where he reflects on how much he's changed since leaving Caroline and going against the Company.
Lincoln and drug use (and Michael)
This might be bias from the show's habit of downplaying Linc's criminal past here, but in my headcanon, Lincoln doesn't do IV drugs. I think his experience with dealing drugs, and probably seeing people get seriously hurt or killed by using impure/mislabelled stuff would keep him off of it. Plus, his responsibility to Michael and LJ. Despite what Michael thought, Lincoln never started doing drugs because of some party, or because he wanted to be "cool". He smokes pot and drinks to numb himself enough so he can get through the day and do all the shitty stuff he has to do. But he stays rational enough to remember that he has a little brother and son to take care of. Even if his "job", and having to hide from bad people and the police means that he has to lie and can't spend as much time with them as he'd like. So yeah, Lincoln smokes pot and drinks a lot, but he's never really gotten addicted. Maybe it's his body chemistry or something. Unlike Michael who, when he tried doing drugs as a teen, he kept chasing the high even while he was making himself sick, because he craved that feeling of not being able to think.
Lincoln, touch-starved
It does something to you, not to be touched in any positive way for so long. You begin to vacillate between being repelled by tough and seeking it out in any form, even the most negative.
- Daniel Holden, Rectify 1.04
In a sort-of-AU setting where Fox River works like a real prison and Lincoln, as a death row inmate, is actually in SOLITARY confinement. And of course with Michael being the first touch he experiences in a long time. Could be just comforting, with Lincoln broken down after being touch-starved for so long, or could be sexual. The porny side of my brain is also thinking that Lincoln could be getting into fights just so he can feel something (negative touch) and that translating into a BDSM relationship with Michael once they get out. But I'm leaning towards the first, gen/hurt-comfort idea.
One-sided Michael/Lincoln, "be careful what you wish for"
Michael's been in love with Lincoln for as long as he can remember, but Lincoln doesn't return the feelings. In fact, he feels disgusted, and as if he's let Michael down or messed him up in some way. Ever since Michael's confessed his feelings to Lincoln, and was subsequently rejected, he's never once brought it up. But Lincoln knows that his feeling haven't gone away. Post-escape, once they've settled down in Panama, Lincoln feels obligated to start a sexual relationship with Michael. But it's not at all how Michael imagined it would be.
Mahone finds out about Michael/Lincoln
Mahone's disgust at seeing Michael and Lincoln, and his shock at finding out that he and Michael aren't as similar as he thought.
Michael, Lincoln, and religion
My headcanon is that Christina (not S4!Christina, of course) would have taken Michael and Lincoln to church every Sunday and on holidays. There's just too many religious themes for me to think otherwise. I don't think they were raised to be especially religious, but they would be familiar with the mythology and symbols. Lincoln was pretty indifferent, but Michael had a lot of faith when he was young, up until the time that Christina passed away. Then Michael shifted his faith onto something more concrete: Lincoln.
Michael and Lincoln, silence
The different qualities of silence between them.
Michael/Lincoln, S1, pretending to be a couple
AU where Michael doesn't reveal that Lincoln is his brother right away. An inmate finds Michael and Lincoln in a sexual situation, so they pass it off as them having been in a relationship on the outside, and that's why Michael's breaking Lincoln out. They keep up the charade of being lovers (obviously Michael would be less trusting/open with Sara), but when Michael gets called in for Linc's final visitation, word spreads that they're brothers. Sucre freaks out, Michael explains that they're actually step-brothers, or Lincoln's adopted (LULZY when you think of S4), and the different last names work in their favour.
Michael/T-Bag, rape aftermath
Michael was prepared to offer his body in prison, but he wasn't prepared for T-Bag making him enjoy it. Because T-Bag gets off on not just other people's pain, but also misery and suffering. Raping Michael as he's stoic and silent wouldn't be enjoyable for him. So he makes Michael come, makes Michael lose control, and makes him doubt whether or not he can pull off the escape.
non-related Michael/Lincoln AU
Where Michael is a lawyer with Project Justice who works to save Lincoln.
And that's what I've got so far. Most of these I probably won't be able to write, for various reasons, but, well, we'll see. Unsurprisingly, there's a lot of Michael&Lincoln and Michael/Lincoln. Surprisingly, there's a lot more Lincoln-centric stuff than I expected! I think I probably symapthize the most with Lincoln (again, I think that's the show's bias coming through in downplaying his criminal past to keep him sympathetic to viewers and therefore make Michael's actions seem more reasonable). Although the character I find most interesting is Michael, I have a hard time understanding him without going to a dark place and making him twisted and manipulative (more so than he is in canon).
Also surprising, I think the character I find most attractive is Mahone! Not to say that Michael, Linc, and others aren't attractive. But Fichtner just oozes chemistry. Plus, I have a major competency!kink, and Mahone definitely fits the bill. I still can't imagine him in a relationship with anyone other than past!Pam, but I would read ALL THE MAHONE PWPS *___*
