So Germany, having been posting by some Holly is singing Stille Nacht (Silent Night in the original German, ( Read more... )

Of course. Not that I'm implying I thought you were a bad singer, just-- a bit unexpected.

I thought you'd have a much harsher, scratchier voice.

[ ooh I read about that a while back. idk I read some crazy conspiracies on how it was made by Hollywood, or was that the WWII truce? /fail ]

Music has been pretty prevalent in my culture. Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms, you know?

[ lol, no, it's legit. There is a movie that took a few liberties but it's a good movie. Joyeux Noël. It's in three languages. *u* ]

Ah, yes. 'The Three B's'. I'm sure it's nice to have a rich musical history-- not that I'm jealous or any rot like that.

[ a small pause to think about that statement. and ahhh I shall check it out ]

There was Handel, and Purcell, and of course, The Beatles.

[Ahhh Handel is so dry I hate playing him /biased.]

The Beatles? I think they're playing in Hamburg...

[It's only 1961 okay. it's like in clubs and stuff. George Harrison lied about his age to my authorities. o9 ]

[ oh god I hated Handel I prefer the nuts like Liszt and Rachmaninoff ]

They may have built up part of their reputation in Hamburg, but they're still a British band.

[ DON'T WE ALL. Lie to pub authorities I mean. ]

[ omg Rachmaniofffffffff. ahhhhhh. And Bach. Bach is amazing. I play the oboe so, you know, it's nice literature for me. ]

I understand that. I just hadn't heard of them otherwise.

[Lol Drinking age? What drinking age? If you're 14 and have parents it's legal. ]

You really ought to get out more, mate. They're world famous now! Even the Americans are barmy over them.

[ I played piano, it's all viola for me now. But ahhh Bach's sinfonias were hell for me. And hah England has the highest rate of binge drinking ]

19... 69?

[ doing mental calculations, because crap he forgot about the time differences. Germany obviously has to be from the 60 or later. And ffff everyone hates viola. ]

You can't be that far behind if you've heard their name.

It's only 1961.

[ no I love viola we did a concerto last year it was so much fun. But the section is like one girl who doesn't always show up this year. ]

The years they spent between Liverpool and Hamburg, of course. You'll be pleased to know they tour in Hamburg later on as well.

[ awww haha, I just meant most composers kind of dislike viola. Bartok's is one of the only ones I like ]

It will be interesting to see how they've mature.

[ It's like being an oboe in band; they're not sure what to do with you sometimes. Also randomly, I have "I wanna hold your hand" and "She loves you" in German it is so awesome. ]

They've only gotten better, I'll tell you. Abbey Road was bloody brilliant, and so was Yellow Submarine. Blimey Germany, I'll have to lend you an LP!

[ asdfasd I HAVE NEVER HEARD THESE. But I really want to now. ]

That would nice.

[Man we're getting along. Beatles should be our diplomacy. But it'll never fix the French-German tensions.]
